Currently we can access our presets 1-4 by pressing the corresponding numbered button on the WiiM Voice Remote.

My feature request is that a quick double-press of the preset buttons could access presets 5-8 to give us additional preset functionality using the remote. For example double-press the "1" button for preset 5, double-press the "2" button for preset 6, and so on.

Another option could be for press-and-hold to be used instead of double-press depending on what's easier to detect (or maybe both together to give access to even more presets).

A telephone for operation is a good thing.
But a remote control is also necessary. When you want to quickly turn a device on or off, turn the volume up or down, or quickly find an important setting, the remote control is much faster, is always close to the device, and is available to everyone in the house.
However, the phone must be unlocked and woken up, a specific function must be found, and activated; not every household member can unlock my phone.
I fully agree about the point of a remote control. The one provided is a bit basic. Many WiiM devices use a remote control, so I created a feature request at the right place for an access to the 12 presets here feel free to vote for it too :)

Feel free to ignore scientific research which tells you how human memory works - 12 presets is too many for the average user to recall. A waste of development resources.
4 is not enought. I would be very surprised to ear that some scientific research have been conducted on the number of presets there should be on a WiiM remote control. What use case ? What population ? What music sources ? Too many parameters for something scientific.

No research as specific as a WiiM remote control of course, but probably referring to Millier’s Law which states that “the number of objects an average human can hold in short-term memory is 7 ± 2” so basically you might struggle to remember which of your 12 presets were which.

I have an idea for an easy way to remember what you have saved in your presets, and that is to simply look in the WiiM Home app on your phone/tablet, and then at the same time you might as well select which preset you want, so therefore there’s no need for any more buttons on the remote control. 🤔🙂

Alternatively, you could make a list giving details of your preset settings, and keep it somewhere close to where you are sitting. 🤔🙂

Yes, honestly I have seriously considered paste a list on the back of my remote. It is not easy to even memorize 4 of them for me 🤗.

Before that, there are too many remotes to find..
😅
