Energy Consumption

Howcome the WiiM Amp Pro has twice the standby energy of the regular amp?

6w is the same as an LED light bulb...

Yes only few have changed on design but twice the power consumption. Other solution on this plug a smart plug and only turn it on when you use it.

my wiim pro plus is plugged into the usb power socket on the rotel amplifier and when the amplifier is off the wiim does not get voltage. I did not buy the ultra for this reason. Yes, energy is expensive for me and I care about the environment and the planet. If the ultra draws 5w then during the week it draws 84w even if I do not use it, this is unacceptable.

Somebody should go back to school! What you mean is 0.84KWh (the usual measure of energy consumption) or less than 21p in the UK.

It's about 43 kWh per year. So it all adds up. If you have several devices that have similar standby consumption you wast money and especially uses unnecessary resources. Thats why the new EU directive is enforced.

Aren’t all WiiM devices Networked Standby types?
From 2027, devices in networked standby must not consume more than 2 to 7 Watts depending on the product.

WiiM have just given us the standby pull for the Ultra as less than 2 W, a bit more than 17 kWh for a year. If your electricity is a high EUR 0.50/kWh that’s a single morning’s croissant and double espresso at your local.

My TP-Link Tapo P110 says that the Amp Pro draws 2 to 3 W in standby and around 11 W in operation (room volume level).

How loud is room volume? my current WiiM amp spends most it's life at about 45%

Do you have an obsession with LED light bulbs?
No, but a light source for a room using the same wattage as a device doing nothing is a suitable comparator to how high that standby wattage is.

Less than 2 Watts, really, ich cant believe it, i measured ca. 5Watts, o.k the Meter is not calibraten and a consumer one. It is from Lidl. Measured an LED bulb the Meter indicates 4,6 Watt.
