Features wanted in a Wiim Ultra 2

It's very standard for both the general public and professionals... there's nothing esoteric about it... it's very inexpensive*... and helps to break ground loops, etc.

Reasonably, you could use just one source or receiver side, but if in doubt, it's better to have two... they had a bad reputation in the 90s because they were poorly made, but now they're very efficient...

You'll see them everywhere... but not in our Wiims yet (and if you don't see one in your DACs or digital source connected to your Wiim..all the more reason to have one in there ;-) )
My comment may seem negative to you... but the fact is that it's mainly Wiim's "oversight"... that's all... I'm pointing it out hoping that Wiim will address it in the future...
;-)

( * ex da101c murata...same from pulse etc)

Small black cubes, easy to spot near your digital inputs and outputs... ;-)
Which bits of gear have these standard galvanic isolation transformers that you see everywhere?

Not everywhere then
Excuse me... it's very prevalent, especially for the last 20 years or so... I'm just suggesting you look inside your machines... But if you think we shouldn't encourage Wiim to systematize it... I'll leave it at that.

You only gave one example

Just name some if they are everywhere, no photos needed
No.... If you want to take my statement as excessive... I invite you to look at the internal photos in the future to see if you don't notice these small transformers on the SPDIF/AES inputs and outputs of the machines you see....
typically PE-6512nl pulse or Murata DA-101c
(It's desirable that there be one anyway...that's all...and there's nothing surprising about it)

And yet it is facinating to see how otherwise perfectly sane poeple jump onto this train.
There must be something in their music …🤣
Have you conducted any tests as Alpha Audio? Did you experiment in a good system like myself?

I second this; it is a nice feature that I am enjoying with my T8 to simply pop the NVMe card with my personal collection inside the unit and not have external storage devices physically attached/dangling from the streamer.

Speaking of which, let's dangle some SSDs

18.50 x 15.70 x 13.60 mm / 1TB

Regardless of the features, the most important thing for me is that the new version is not higher. The current height is the only one that fits under my TV. It could be wider, but not higher.

Do not change the screen size. To have anything on screen really visible, the device would really need to change its size to much. Wiim Devices are great because they have compact size, it should stay this way.

What could be added? XLR for sure and a bit better DAC implementation. Maybe also deeper space for RCA plugs.

Here's another feature maybe on the technical list at WiiM under consideration or maybe not. On a WiiM Pro, I replaced a standard 5v LPS with a TalentCell that outputs 12 v & 5v. It is battery powered and the improvement was more than noticeable.

It would be great if an external power supply is available as an option on a WiiM Ultra update. Recently, there's a new Rivo+ streamer only that allows for an external power supply. Users report the recommended LPS is worthwhile. Obviously, that's a pricer setup but it would be great if WiiM could bring that option with an updated WiiM Ultra.

That would hold some broad appeal for WiiM fans and possible new ones. This is absolutely a leg up WiiM pushes toward so hope it got past the engineering stage.
