What functionality would you like to see added to the Ultra display?

  • Send audio to another room

  • Control grouping with other WiiM devices

  • Check what's playing in other rooms

  • Control what's playing in other rooms

  • Set Up Timers and Alarms

  • Display lyrics of what's playing

  • Easy multiroom volume control

  • Spectrum Analyser

  • Text only display with larger text

Screen turns on with volume change and turns back off after 2-5 seconds of no change.

This works when controlling the volume or playback in the WIIM app after turning the screen display off and turning off "wake up screen on touch only". However, the problem is that it never wakes when I change the volume via HDMI ARC CEC or Tidal Connect, the two way I always control volume. It would be fantastic if it would work no matter how the volume changes.

Also, it would be super cool if during playback the screen only displayed the volume in big numbers upon auto wake. Also, it would be great to be able to have the auto volume wake on for one input (like hdmi) and something else for another input (vu meter always on for wifi streaming, for example).

To put it simply, here's my desired example:
When watching TV ( HDMI input), the screen stays off until volume is changed via CEC, and then it would display only the current volume in white numbers taking up most of the screen on black background, and after 2 seconds of no volume change, the screen turns back off.
When streaming music via wifi (tidal connect), the screen always displays the VU meter like already can now.
Alternatively (this might be easier): the option to upload an image as the the playback display. Then, we could upload a plain black image so that we would only see volume changes.

Right now I'm playing music through "My music". WiiM Home in a Windows 11 PC over the network. I have a DAC connected to the Ultra's USB.

The music is in NAS - see screen shots below.. The files are in WAV format with no metadata.

(1) The display shows only s music note. It would be nice if it would show the name of the file being played. It would also be nice if it would have BACK and FORWARD controls on the display.

(2) It would be nice if I could select the folder name and the Ultra would play all the music files in there... right now I have to either select them directly or use the BACK/FORWARD buttons to play the next file

Note the music is on a WDC PF4100 NAS. Called raid2 in this.

For example, if I could select "1999" below and it would play all of the music files in the directory.

Which playback screen did you choose? Back and forward controls can actually be shown permanently now. This is a relatively new feature. Regarding filename display in the absence of metadata you'd probably have to request that feature separately.

Note that the desktop apps for Windows and MacOS are in beta state and severely lacking in functionality compared to the Android and iOS apps. This is unlikely to change. If something is unavailable on Windows it's always worth to check if the mobile app can do it.

I haven't touched the Ultra at all... The point is for me to do 99% of the interface remotely.

BTW- I sure with they'd keep the WiiM Home User Interface at least "similar".

How In He!! I'm I supposed to mount a //raid2 share in an Android WiiM Home GUI?

I know that I was sort of able to see it, but then it went away.

In the PC all I have to do is right click above the "My Music" and I get the menu to add... right now I have \\raid2\Public\music and I can play off it nicely.

My android phone natively mounts it nicely too... but I can't see how to do this in the Home application for Android.

The point of this thread is "Feedback Needed! WiiM Ultra Screen Enhancements", not how to explore the UI of the Android app and the WiiM Help Center.

It has been discussed before and partly concluded that there is not enough CPU resources to run a useful analyzer.

As long as WiiM is not able to make a correctly working VU meter, I would not trust them to make a frequency display (spectrum analyzer) anyway.
I'm a bit confused here, who was it discussed by and what does "partly concluded" mean?
Surely Wiim would not put a spectrum analyzer on this list if it can't be done?
Or would they, I don't know?

It was added to the list because of the number of requests received, but It has not been confirmed whether or not it can be done.

A spectrum analyzer, if needed, should run on a separate device positioned at the listening position.
I would think that for most people it's just eye candy and should be somewhere it can be seen. On the Ultra screen seems a logical place to me with the advantage that it wouldn't cost anything. Free is good. 😁

I am sure plenty of us have our Ultra in our listening positon so what is your point?

The poster said the spectrum analyzer should run on a separate device, my point would be why not run the analyzer on the Ultra screen, no need to purchase a separate device.

Or other very useful displays at the listening position. The RME’s spectrum display is highly effective on a screen half the size of the Ultra’s.

I too have an RME.... the RME ADI-2 Pro FS R AD/DA Black Edition... BUT it costs a TON more than the Ultra! And it does a lot of other things... the reason why the spectrum analyzer is included is, IMHO, to support the recording functions where it really it becomes useful.

I'd guess if you mess around with the tone controls of the Ultra, it might be useful ( I don't )... but it would likely require more than just software for the Ultra and then you have to deal with the cost.
