Has anyone managed to control WiiM Pro Plus volume with Apple TV Remote?

My projector (an Epson EH-TW7000 aka Epson Home Cinema 3200) doesn't have an optical audio out, so I use a Swissonic HDMI audio extractor to pipe the digital audio signal into the WiiM Pro Plus.

I thought it wouldn't annoy me using the WiiM Remote just to change volume or mute, but it does. What is the smallest change I could make to the setup in order to control the WiiM's volume using the Apple TV Remote?

It’s been reported in the forum you can use an Apple TV remote with the ultra but I think that’s because hdmi cec is in play somewhere in the chain, so if you can get your projector/extractor/Apple TV to use hdmi cec you might be able to indirectly change the wiim’s volume by changing theirs.

I have a sorta cumbersome setup with FLIRC USB + Raspberry Pi + short python script to send http requests to WiiM Pro Plus. it does the job tho. The advantage is I can use the Apple TV remote even when the TV is off. Pls DM me if you're interested. I can share the script

I love that you have done this but if I buy a Raspberry Pi I'll end up doing the World Clock project (like a rip-off of a Wharton Clock) I've been talking about doing for years and I'll never get any real work done in 2025. For the sake of my career I have to say no thank you x
