Hi,

I confess my ignorance of how technichal difficult or even impossible this is. If anyone, knows if it is impossible, please let me know and I will "close" this request :)

WiiM HDMI input is, at present day, HDMI ARC.

Is it only a software change or even royalties to be payed to "hdmi" to make it HDMI AUDIO?

I once had my DENON 3910 via HDMI (PCM) connected to my AVR-4306.

I don't use HDMI ARC to TV (I use an optical in) but I would need / want / desire :) to have my Denon 3910 connected via HDMI to WiiM Ultra to pass PCM 2-channel audio till 192KHz/24bits via this connection, without any additional gear (audio converter, hdmi extractor, etc).

Is this anyhow possible? I would even pay a "small" payment to have this (should it be a royalty issue).

Thanks all.

The ARC wires in the HDMI cable aren't the same as used for HDMI audio/video, so to extract the audio from the signal it will require that these wires are all connected and the hardware can handle the video signal. I don't think that is the case for the WiiMs?

Thank you. If wiring is different then that's not a possible road to take :)

But, with some search, I found this:

"You can think of ARC as a software upgrade to HDMI, not a hardware change. The magic is in how the devices communicate—not in the cable itself."

I personally see CoPilot and its bedmates currently as a step down from Google as in my experience they’re liable to take information out of context and tend to put the information across in a confident manner that people tend to believe without any critical inspection. At least with Google I can sift thru results and decide myself what’s relevant and what isn’t.

In your link I don’t see anything that supports your previous quote that hdmi arc is only a software change. I still stand by @harkpabst’s assertion given their background as an electrical engineer as I recall.

copilot has links to follow upon it's responses. I lost the link where that statement was, but it might be a wrong statement.

If it's an hardware issue so it is :)
