Headphones

One step further for the holidays, these Yamaha HPH-150B open back headphones sounds soso, compared to full size cups, but with EQ there was a lot improvement in SQ. On my Phone (Pixel 8) purchased and installed the app 'USB Audio Player Pro' . With this app you have full control over the external DAC and full EQ. Bonus is it supports native Tidal too, so EQ of my taste while listening Tidal. Tidal app itself does not come with EQ...🥲

Normally i dont care that much on EQ, but with these small set of Yamaha cups, sound improvement is a big step upwards with EQ. Really recommend the App. Will play local files as many streaming service as well.

Investment of a Fioo KA13 + the Yamaha phones + the app USB Audio Player Pro approx €160,-
Funny to 'discover' the benefits of using headphones, after so many years.

I know, this is the Wiim Forum, way off topic, but i really did all i could to convince him to take the Ultra to my camping place, its an innocent device! But the owner still refuses dedicated hifi stuff on his property.
You did everything right. I've been using UAPP for many years, for me it's one of, if not the best, MusicApp. Supports direct control of the ESS DACs on my LG phones (V30 + V40). Especially for external DACs the first choice. It was also the first app I installed on my new Fiio JM21. If you invest in the CAST plug-in, you can also stream to your Ultra. The egg-laying wool-milk sow 👍

Researching a headphone set-up to add to my Wiim Amp Pro. Looking at a Fiio K11 r2r connected to the Amp Pro USB out. Based on a quick review of this thread the Fiio F1's seem good for a wired solution. However, I would ideally like headphones that can handle wired and bluetooth (BT) connectivity. The Grado GW100x headphones are mentioned in this thread as handling both wired and BT but they are open backed with no ANC.

Is anyone aware of other (closed back) headphones that support wireless and BT or is the sensible answer to get 2 separate pairs?

Advice appreciated.

I've tried many different headphones (B&O, Sennheiser, etc). They are all too heavy & sweaty for prolonged use. The B&O have user replaceable batteries. I finally settled for cheap Soundblaster JAM V2 mainly because they are lightweight.

I've given up on earpods - keep falling out, uncomfortable.

My main use nowadays are earclips - stable & decent sound.

Anything using a cable is like a ball & chain - almost certain that some time you'll walk away without removing/unplugging & suffer the consequent damage to self or equipment 😁

Don't forget you can add Bluetooth functionality to any wired headphone with a portable BT dac amp. There are many on the market with various features. If you're not sure this is the right option, try the Fiio BTR 11 for $20 (÷/-) US. Great value for the money.

You could try the bluetooth B&W px7s2, on sale at the moment,(Amazon uk) I'm pretty sure they can also be used with a cable, I used to have some.

Currently trying a pair of Grado Headphones, SR80x. They just arrived ! For me, these sounds good enough to justify the price of approx €120,-.

I swear to stop buying headphones for the rest of June 2025 😂 .

Total amount of headphones = 4 at the moment.
Good mids, small form factor, on ear, not over ear. These feel very, very comfortabele. Just got a very decent sound, open back system, i feel it keeps me in touch with my environment and selection music played at the same time. Without looking too much as an idiot.

Btw, what's your avagage amount of headphones?

The original PX7s can be used with a cable as can most higher end headphones with BT/ANC etc - they are just not as good as an equivalent priced wired only set.
