Ordered the HDB 630 as an office/plane/travel/dogwalking headset. Anyone here already some experience with them?

I say it again..:
If i can recommend some excellent IEMs it would be the AFUL performer.
So great ...i have the performer 5 ,i Enjoy them every day.
Im willing to buy the 5+2 later.
Hail AFUL...so much respect to them.

Anyone familiar with Meze ie 109 pro? Should this price tag be a huge difference make compared to mij fiio ft1 or Philips x2hr?
Unfortunately no shop in my area to get a demo.

RE: Meze 109 Pro

Headfi.org has a thread on this set of headphones, currently with 4,351 responses. That should give you a good range of opinions on them, though reading other people's likes and dislikes will never a substitute for hearing them yourself.

I bought an audiotechnica m30x wired almost 10 years ago (couldn't afford m50x then and BT models weren't there i think). Sometime back i got the cushions changed to more comfy ones. Last year i bought a Fiio BTR17 which was at 3-4 times the cost of m30x and now my bluetooth audio for music is m30x with BTR17 - with a wire hanging from my headset into my pocket with BTR17. My teenage son tells me it's not counted as a bluetooth setup, cannot be considered proper wired, but it's just a wierd setup. I tell him it's LDAC, aptx ready with parametric EQ and what not, but he doesn't agree with my opinion that it's a marvelous setup.
Obviously I can't go out with that and make it embarassing to the kids and the wife, so I have a samsung buds2 pro - which is already showing more than it's age of 2 years.

So that's my headphone story.

Affordable Wiim streamers, with a relevant PEQ mode, even if there's room for improvement, are a boon for serious headphone enthusiasts using them not in "nomad".
(Suggestions for corrections based on adapted measurement benches abound online... Headphones are just as disastrous in their frequency response as a PEQ mode is effective and useful in this case..in "proportion"...)

It would be nice to consider integrating a relevant crossfeed mode... but there are so many more pressing issues to address regarding audio on our Wiim consoles... the price to pay for expanding the features...
;-)

Hey, a little something new from Beyer for their headphones... worth a try...
the two main "not new" topics concerning headphones
(But i dont use beyer headphone)

Grado SR80x vs SR225x any sense with such highly customized EQ settings in UAPP?

For casual listening i love to use my portable setup. Pixel 8 > UAPP > Fiio KA13 usb dac dongle > Grado SR80X.

Heard the SR225x could be the 'sweet spot' in the Grado SR series. But, not sure it will benefit the investment approx €250,- with such a EQ curve.

The curve attached, is my overall preferred EQ for the SR80X. These are custom setting in USB Audio player pro.

Does anyone have experience with a weird question like this 🤔 ..

However, love the Grado sound! ♥️

Thanks!

Just end-gamed my headphone setup for late night and also work-from-home listening. Audalytic DR70 DAC feeding Audalytic HP70 headphone amp driving Hifiman Arya Organic cans. I am using Roon DSP for Crossfeed and gentle PEQ tuning. The sound is really amazing.

My goal has been to build an open-back headphone setup that allows me to remain aware of my surroundings while also letting me listen to music without worrying about waking my kids (a challenge when trying to listen to my main speaker setup at night after they’ve gone to bed in the room directly on top of my family room where the speakers are set up) all the while sounding as close as possible to my reference (which is my speaker setup).

I had the overall tonality down pretty well with my previous pair of cans (Dan Clark Æon 2 Closed with Noire pads that I bought, essentially, refurb), but they couldn’t image anywhere near how my speakers sound, no matter how much I tweaked Crossfeed, and some other room simulators (like Waves NX) just sounded…fake. So I decided to roll the dice on a pair of open-back planars to see if I could get the imaging to be more forward and was able to spot an open-box pair of Hifiman’s Arya Organic planars for a decent discount.

The Hifimans came in last week and with very little effort tweaking Roon Crossfeed was able to achieve excellent forward imaging, and the bass of these open-backs feels more natural than the closed-back Æon 2s, which are now relegated to use twice a week when I take the train into the office. I was actually quite surprised at how much better the imaging was on the Arya Organic compared to my old pair of Sennheiser x Drop HD 6XX, which were my reference cans for many, many years until I got the Æon 2s earlier this year. On top of that, they are way more open sounding, and I can stay much more aware of the environment with the Arya Organics than the HD 6XX, which tend to muffle everything around me despite being open-back.

I've been partial to open-back cans for the sound stage they offer - I bet you might enjoy the Grell OAE1 that I bought from Drop a year or two back. Apparently its' been re-released (or perhaps modded a bit) as the "Grell Audio OAE2" https://grellaudio.com/pages/technology. They seem to vary a bit based on how you've got them positioned on your head and let the sound flow past your pinnas:cool:. I like 'em but much prefer my Sony MDR-MV1s.

I love theGrado sound, ive compared the 80s and 225s, the 225s were definately better a little more punch but i wouldnt of considered it a huge upgrade but that could possibly depend on what you are listening to.
I had a pair of the wireless gx100, loved them, would possibly still have them if they werent open back.

Thanks for this. I mainly listen to Blues, Rock and electronic. My only concern upgrading to 225x with such heavy EQ will be the question if its worth the investment. I will try to find a dealer for demo listening the 225x with a directly compare with my current 80x. Nice hobby, anyway 😎

If you delve into the details of the "headphone" issue, you'll discover that even high-end headphones are a minefield on the FR side... a mini-disaster, really... especially above 1kHz (and below 300Hz due to component problems with our speakers).
We need to put aside the "instrument timbre" issues for a while.

(not to mention, of course, the subject of "image"..crossfeed subject etc)
The PEQ feature, even if imperfect, on our Wiim devices is really welcome in these uses.

Ps
I posted this on another forum, but...

it's a fun and useful little exercise for anyone wanting try to replicate the tonal characteristics, etc., of reference speakers...
Just make comparisons, subjective observations, etc., using a strong high-pass filter on the speakers and headphones, for example at 250/300Hz....thanks to your Wiim.

;-)
