1) I just opened the Wiim Ultra and I am setting it up through the RCA cables to my Marantz MR 1150 Reciever into the Tape Monitor Input. This worked perfectly with a cheap bluetooth streamer I had before but I am getting no sound out of it. I've tried Wifi input and Bluetooth. What am I doing wrong? I have a Phono and CD connection on that receiver but I want to keep those connected to my CD player and Record player. The Tape Monitor should work.

2). I am attempting to input my external hard drive into the USB connection to play some music to see if its just a connection issue. However, it says it needs to index my music for 2 hours. Am I going to have to keep the hard drive plugged in all the time? I obviously don't want to wait hours to play some music.

Have you used the correct output sockets? The two bottom left. Sorry for this question but we had a case just recently …

Re. your second question. You need to have the drive plugged in permanently anyway.
But two hours seems very long. How large is your library?

Yes, I have the correct output sockets.
I have a very large library that is on the external drive. I thought I was able to plug in the drive and just select from the drive what i wanted to play at that point in time and put it into the app. It would be not very useful for me to have to upload my library every time, and I will probably send this back if thats the case. I wanted a device to be able to play Flac files through my vintage receiver and passive speakers. it seems like this may not work.

If you use a USB device plugged into the Ultra it will index your library. This can take little time. It is called plug ‚n‘ play, but it does involve some processing

Understood, but it shouldn't take hours to access the menu of files. I plug my external drive into my computer all the time and it shows the menu in the drive and all of my files. I then can drag from that folder into something like VLC an play it from there from a playlist. Why would this be any different is what I'm asking.

Just been thinking. It‘s a long time ago that I hat a tape deck. Use TAPE IN, not tape monitor!

I'm also not trying to be difficult or anything, genuinly trying to figure out a process that works kind of like that. I just don't understand why it would take hours to index some folders on a drive. It'll be loaded here in 15 minutes it says so I'll test it out.

Because it is. Again, how large is your library in terms of GB, allbums or tracks?

18000+ tracks. And like i said, my computer can access the menu instantly, why does the Wiim take two hours. "Because it is" is not helpful, I was looking for a reason that indexing would take 2 hours on this device and some set up help. I'll look elsewhere but thanks for your time.

Is there any other data on that drive?
18,000 tracks should not take that long indeed.

Indexing involves reading the tags from your files to create a detailed, searchable catalog of your music library.

When you have the drive connected to the computer it sounds like you're just browsing the contents via File Explorer and dragging them onto VLC. They're very different technologies.

The first full index always takes time.
