How to skip wiim ultra digital domain

I would like to use the wiim skipping the digital domain, getting analogue signal in and out, as I have a better external dac. But I want to use the subwoofer output, is it possible?
The chain would be DAC -> Wiim -> Sub and power amp.
And my doubt was, does the wiim convert the analogue in to digital, then applies HPF and LPF, then converts to analogue and outputs the signal? Would that degrade the signal in your opinion?
Thanks for the help

Thanks Matt, so the use of an external dac before the wiim doesn't make any sense, I would need to use the digital output for the dac after so that the digital to analogue for the speaker is done by the dac and for the sub done by the sub (an svs pb-2000) right?
Has the High pass filter through USB output alredy been implemented in the Ultra or not yet? Thanks

WiiM devices are digital streamers. All is handled in the digital domain. Probably best to use the digital output to the DAC.

I was "just" searching for a preamp with high pass filter for speakers (and sub out), it seems the most obvious feature to ask, apparently it's not, and the wiim ultra doesn't fit my needs, as I understand

It has what you ask for but only in the digital domain.

Why do you want to put a DAC in front of it and not after?

Because I want to use the usb asynchronous output to the dac but I don't know if wiim has alredy released the firmware update, as I am concerned with the internal clock of the wiim, but maybe I'm too picky.
But most importantly I would use it also with a record player, I am not a fan of converting Analogue to Digital, and then back to analogue... I'm sure it would just worsen the quality

The latest firmware allows USB out to DAC and analog out to Sub.

There is no issues with Ultra DAC or clock. All measures shows that.

An external DAC may sound different but regarding noise and distortion it is as good as any

I do that via the Ultra phono input and it actually sounds better than using my phono preamp.

I don't think you will be able to hear any degradation and EQ is much better than you get with analog hardware.

Like all things, it depends on how well it’s done. I doubt owners of Linn kit would agree as they’re quite happy feeding their flagship LP12 turntables into their streamers/amps where again all analogue input is digitised.

Like glass v plastic optical cables, coax v optical, toslink being limited to 24/96 etc, I think a lot of these assumptions may have been relevant at some time in the past, but aren’t necessarily the case now.

The fact remains that the ADC of the Wiim is really modest...so it may be considered as a supplement or on modest sources...

Where do you have that information from?
Probably by extension from the otherwise excellent review of features/measurements of the Pro Plus in audiosciencereview by @VintageFlanker. I don’t think the analogue input stage has changed in later models , but am happy to be corrected on that.

"this level of performance will be perfectly suitable for the Pro Plus to be fed by a phono/turntable signal."

So for the kind of sources that provide analog signals like TT and Tape this is as good as needed.

stupid reasoning
