Is this a cache issue or something else

I'm using an SSD attached to the USB port on my WiiM Ultra. Mostly it is fine but I have had several issues that persist.

Firstly, I had an issue with a piece of incorrect album artwork that I couldn't change, then all of a sudden it was fine. Now I have another one. In both cases I initially dragged the files into Swinsian and changed the incorrect artwork. I then checked the Folder.jpg image to ensure it was correct and finally uploaded the album again to the SSD before performing a Quick Scan which didn't effect the change. So I then did a Full Scan which hasn't worked either. I repeated the whole process multiple times but no change. I've also deleted the cache manually. Nothing works.

Any help appreciated.

I have no idea how Swinsian actually works, but could it be that you have both now, album art embedded into your files and Folder.jpg images?

It shouldn't hurt if they are exactly one and the same (as you apparently had checked), but it would be a waste of storage space, at least. The indexing process will create a separate copy of the embedded image for each and every song, IIRC.

The WiiM Home app definitely caches the results of the indexing process to some extend. Normally, everything just falls into place, eventually. When you say you deleted the cache manually, does that mean that you use the WiiM Home app on an Android device (there's no way of manually deleting the cache on iOS) while you are managing your music library on a Mac?

Or are you using the beta version of the WiiM Home app for MacOS?

I don't understand how Swinsian works, TBH I used it as a music player and it just so happens it's OK as a tag/data editor however sometimes I have this issue. In Swinsian, I drag in the new files, then tend to select all music files and drag the album artwork. There no save as Swinsian works on the actual files direct.

In the album folder, the correct album artwork is added as Folder.jpg. I then add the album to my music library SSD and re-index. If I want to delete the cache, I can see its cache folders when the SSD is attached to my Mac and I delete from there. Within the iOS app and Mac app I cannot delete anything.

Anyway, sometimes it works, sometimes not. Just a bit frustrating, I wondered if I was doing something wrong.

Do you files also have embedded artwork though?

A good and pertinent question. They are ripped using dbpoweramp and the artwork is found/added as part of that process however on occasion I need to change it. It seems this is where the problem lies and using Swinsian perhaps isn't the best option. I'm new to this since getting th WiiM a several months ago.
