Wrong Cover Pics in USB Database WiiM Ultra Amp

Most have one image (Folder.jpg) per album, some have embedded images.
Perhaps you've stored it there for folder browsing, but external artwork (folder.jpg) must reside alongside the files, not in a parent folder as in your screenshot of the Tommy directory; not that I'm suggesting it to be the cause of your Tommy issues as you've already said they have embedded artwork.

I will make you the same offer that I already made to the OP via PM.
Upload the album folders with the wrong covers and the album folders that contain the source of the wrong covers (only samples thereof please, not all of them) to OneDrive and grant me access to it. For this purpose I will send you my e-mail address via PM on request.
I will do my best to find the cause of your issues and give you my feedback. The fixes will have to be done by yourself though😉.
Thank you, Aquaman, for your offer.
I am currently collecting files, and it appears that I am having particular problems with embedded covers at the moment.
I will first convert them all back to separate folder.jpg files instead of embedded ones and do a new scan before I report back.

And look at @simbun ‚s remark. The jpg should be in the root folder of the album or sub-album in your case. Not in a parent folder.

Of course.
They are available at both levels because this album, Tommy, consists of 3 CDs.
See my previous screenshot (Screenshot CD covers.jpg).

Hello again,
I have now adjusted a number of folders (albums) accordingly and scanned again.
This does indeed appear to be the cause of my problem, when the tracks have both an embedded cover and a folder.jpg in the relevant folder. By removing the embedded cover from the tracks, the problem no longer occurred.
So ONLY a folder.jpg does the trick!
Thank you all.

I‘m getting the impression that many tagging problems arise from relying exclusively on online sourcing via mutiple tagging apps.

It‘s a tiresome business and there‘s nothing wrong with utilizing the possibilites that online taggers offer. But there is no way around reviewing the results. Corrections, addition and deletion of wrong data is the norm if you want to maintain a solid data base. Consistency and meticulous revision across your entire library is of key importance.
It‘s definitely more work than just shoving a CD into the rack.

I have a very clear folder structure, no exceptions allowed.
My tags consist of a fixed set. Some are obligatory, some are optional. Anything else gets sanitized (deleted) without exception.

Thank you, that was exactly the solution. 👍

I don't want to say, I told you so ... 😜
I tested the open source server (MiniDLNA) upon which WiiM is based (I don't have a WiiM with media server) and as long as all the tracks contain embedded artwork and/or there's external everything works as expected, so if this isn't the case with WiiM (which I find hard to believe) then someone should create a ticket.

There is a problem with duplicate album names where album artwork is inherited, but that's also a problem with MiniDLNA.

I tested with FLAC/AAC/MP3 ID3v2.3 and ID3v2.4.

Each album consists of 2 discs each containing 2 tracks.
The album title describes the available artwork and format e.g. FolderFront - FLAC contains folder.jpg and embedded FRONT artwork in each track.

Each image is unique so the logic can be verified e.g. "FolderFront - FLAC - Front1" should be displayed on the first track of the album FolderFront - FLAC.

## Artwork rules (in order of precendence)
Album artwork: Embedded in *first track of album > *first external artwork
Track: Embedded > *first external > embedded in *first track of album

*first is based on the alphabetical position in the filesystem not discnumber/tracknumber.
