Is Wiim moving away from AirPlay?

I currently have a Wiim amp, and am happy with the setup. I planned to purchase a Wiim Amp Pro to expand whole-home capabilities, but was disappointed to learn that it lacks AirPlay. In my household that's a dealbreaker, and was one of the main drivers for selecting the Wiim. I mostly use my Wiim Amp for a turntable, but the quick digital playback via AirPlay is great too.

There's been a lot of speculation online as to why the Amp Pro doesn't have AirPlay, some saying that it was a hardware compatibility issue (with the Ultra and Amp Pro specifically), but this makes me wonder; was that a legitimate mistake, or is Wiim going in the direction of dropping AirPlay support? Respectfully, this would cause me (and I imagine some others) to drop the Wiim platform as I continue to build a whole-home system. I'm just hoping to find a little clarity before investing in a single system.

It make no sense you purchase hifi and use airplay that will give you lossy sound quality. You will save money by just getting Bluetooth since that’s the quality you get from airplay. There are far too many casual listeners that Spotify doesn’t offer loseless because of them.

BT is an option and has been pointed out before, but it does not fully replace AirPlay for Apple Music users. And some say (and may be true) that AirPlay (Apple’s AAC codec version) is actually quite capable. I went back to using Apple Music which, to me and others who heard it, sounds cleaner, woth a wider stage and better separation than Qobuz, even when AirPlay is used vs Qobuz direct connection.

It would be great if they can integrate apple inside wiim app. This will add revenue to Apple portfolio.

Hi all, I don't have anything new to add regarding AirPlay today, but if you're interested in seeing an Apple Music integration, we're always looking for new partners. You could also reach out to them and suggest they look into partnering with us so they know folks are interested: https://www.apple.com/feedback/apple-music.html

Doesn’t Apple want more revenue? They’re here for business to earn money. Why limit themselves to Sonos when they can have others to get more revenue?
