Keeping USB out "live" when not using it.

Hard to give it a proper title but I bought a USB KVM Switch hoping to plug 2 different streamers into it and then USB out into my DAC so I could switch straight between them for instant back to back comparisons BUT as soon as I switch to teh other streamer on the switch, the Ultra shows as no longer connected and stops te track I'm currently playing as well.
Does anybody know if there's any way tp keep it "live" so I can go straight from one to the other?

I'm guessing it's just an auto sensor, he same as when you plug it into ethernet as opposed to WiFi where it automatically switches and displays the ethernet connection which you can't see if you're not connected.
