My Alexa cast Amazon Music HD remote pause, next, back broke 24/12/18

I use Alexacast to shuffle my Amazon Music Unlimited/HD library tracks because that's the ONLY way I've found that can shuffle play from my entire AMHD library (Wiim all track playback is evidently still unable to not play sorted alphanumerically).

Anyway, I was able to start shuffle of AMHD with Alexa thru Wiim remote, then pause, skip, go back - consistently until 12/18/2024. I suspect Amazon changed something that previously allowed this essential functionality. Now only volume is the only tactile control on the remote that works in this use case.

However if I use the Wiim app to select Amazon>my lib>playlist, (for example) all Wiim remote controls work. Anyone know whether this is a known issue and or being worked on? Many thanks, and best wishes to all in Wiim community.

I’d take the batteries out of the remote then put them back in and reboot your WiiM devices, and your router for good measure. If that doesn’t work, send WiiM a ticket via the more/feedback section in the app so they can inspect your device logs for clues.

Edit: you can also press and hold “source”and “mute” buttons on the remote to reset it, then pair it again with your WiiM device.

Thanks, tried all that, and as I mentioned, all remote buttons work fine if using Wiim App instead, but only Volume, not pause, or advance/repeat AMHD playback initiated with Alexacast on the remote. I opened a support request, but interested in any info others may have on this issue. Thanks.

When you start it via AlexaCast, can you perform those functions in the WiiM app (or even the Alexa app), or indeed by voice using the WiiM remote? It might be a WiiM firmware issue, either on the device or the remote and those other avenues might help narrow it down.

Thanks for asking. Forgot to mention next and back are also no longer functional (also used to work) in in the Wiim Ap, but are functional in the AMHD widget in the Alexa app. Also new, the AMHD app does not show the stream in progress as it used to.
Edit: voice command (Alexa pause, skip, etc) continues to function.

I think your problem was a temporary issue, as everything is working fine on my Ultra.
