..... new amp for ultra

Finally got round to listen to some Vinyl, blimey.
Played many tunes all sounded great.
Played Robert Plant, Tin Pan Valley - when he goes “ Like This “ I nearly jumped out of my chair.
So yes seriously impressed with this little MXW 70 / Ultra combo.

You using the phono pre amp in the ultra?

MM and my deck and cartridge are not the best but are entry level
And am using 2 Sonos 5s atm
Ultra is perfect then 👍🏻
If you want a cartridge upgrade then I would seriously recommend a Goldring E3, once again a great bargain, I used mine while waiting for Denon to be modified, very impressed by it.

Back in the dim and distant past goldring were my go to cartridge tbh but now my music collection is on cd and digital these days
However I do enjoy a good vinyl and single malt evening 😊
I don’t want to go down the rabbit hole of buying gear again though, but as Sonos has pushed me back into the separates world we will see what happens 😜
The Fosi Za3 I bought may be ok or not when I get my speakers next week we shall see what occurs 👍

Treat yourself, you won’t regret it goes very well with a Single Malt, Laphroaig ?
Sure ZA3 will be fine.
Was it Wharfdales you are going for ?

At the moment I am thinking of a pair of Q acoustic 3030i as I have got my old Boston subwoofer working
But it is an ongoing process I may even get a second Za3 and monoblock them or if I don’t like it save for the mxn70 either way I will enjoy the journey

All the best 👍🏻

I honestly can’t believe the quality of music reproduction one can get for such a small outlay in these modern times ( in all other areas of life costs have skyrocketed, as we all know )

As an example my new system ( forget Vinyl for now ) :-

WiiM Ultra ( incredible box of tricks ) £350
Cambridge MXW 70 - truly excellent. £500
PSB Imagine T 54 - fabulous sound. £1,200 ( now on offer at £799 !!! )

So for well under £2K a fantastic sounding compact system, which I couldn’t be happier with ( not saying it’s the ultimate because it’s not, nowhere near ) but for sound quality and value for money it’s quite amazing.

Add in Qobuz Connect at £20 / month and what else do you need.

Happy listening folks

Just got my Q acoustic 3030i this evening and cannot believe how much better everything sounds compared to the 2 Sonos 5s
So my system is now
Pair of Q acoustic 3030i £206
Fosi Za3 £150
WiiM ultra £349
Boston sub (saw one on eBay for £99) cannot remember what I paid 18 years ago
Rega planar 1 £315

Before 2 Sonos 5s and sub was £1800

Now I have to listen to my entire collection again🤣

Sounds like a nice system you've set up there Skull. I've got 3030i's too; now connected to a wiim amp ultra (previously ultra and yamaha amp). They are such capable and well-rounded speakers, especially for the price you can get them for now. If you're in a position to, I'd definitely recommend investing in a decent pair of stands for the 3030i's. I originally got a cheap generic pair which were ok, but then upgraded to the custom Q Acoustics ones when they were discounted. They do make a perceivable difference to sound quality...and they look nice too! Enjoy your system.
