This morning, I found a new roadmap.

I'm sorry if I interrupted @RyanWithWiiM's work, but I couldn't stand it..😩

  • Standby & Clock: Option for a permanent clock (screensaver) during playback or standby, and adjustable timeout durations.
:love::love::love:

The management of positive gains and the possibility of saturation due to subject processing, autogain associated with roomfit/peq/gec (necessary since 2022 and the first gec)...still not there?
The presence of DRC mode to camouflage this (which renders any use of a VU meter obsolete), is this still not disabling?
Any visibility on its engagement "with a truepeak overload"?
To allow for an assessment of the necessity and need to reduce the level...
A fixed 3dB reduction as a precaution to provide margin for the ISPs?
Don't fool yourself, a very large majority of what you listen to is more than just flirting with zero and above...already without signal processing!
so these are real issues...

I will out myself and admit that I have no idea of what any of the above means.

Would you translate that to lay language please? It doesn't have to be the fully story, just a hint on what this is all about would be sufficient. Thanks.

No auto-gain...classic function associated with signal processing, equalization, etc.
+
a DRC ""bypass""" mode is present but neither explicit nor detailed...
and not what it implies...
etc
We still have to work around it manually... (A "true peak overload" feature would be very helpful, especially when using the internal DAC.)

A serious, classic topic, well-known by wiim, since spring 2022 and firts gec mode...

(Regarding the ISP issue... a margin mode of around -2 or -3dB "fixed," like on RME solutions, etc., could be offered or even automatically included upstream of the internal DAC.)

If you don't explain what DRC and ISP mean it is not really "lay language"

Him could also do a little research... just a little... just a few clicks... right?

I waste enough time repeating these things over the years, making myself look like an idiot/annoying person, not to mention making things worse...
(Don't be fooled... these barely legible messages are a difficult and foolish effort on my part.. 🫩)

You are right
DRC = Democratic Republic of Congo
ISP = Internet Service Provider
Sorted 🤣

Still no mention of a fully functional DLNA casting facility for the Ultra, or any other WiiM device for that matter.šŸ™„šŸ¤”

Must admit I had a @QuarryHunslet ā€œnot much for me hereā€ moment reading the list - lots of marketing hyperbole (multiple …Fitā„¢ labels) for changes, tweaks or minor adjustments we have seen mentioned before or understood to be in progress, but not a lot of attention grabbing new features. Maybe we’re spoiled by what we have already, or maybe I just woke up grumpy this morning šŸ˜œšŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

I was going to say something similar, but I think that there might just be something of slight interest to me.šŸ¤”

  • Input-Specific Screen: Remember and automatically switch to a preferred display layout based on the active input source.
Whoooo!! I've been wishing for this for a while now!
  • Native Plex Integration: Full support for the native Plex control protocol. - still actively being worked on, nice to hear :)
  • Universal Hi-Res Multi-Room: Expanded support for high-resolution grouping across Roon Ready and Google Castendpoints.
    • If I understand correctly, this should allow to make a multi-room setup using my current Google Home speakers? Awesome if true.

You already could as far as I’m aware, this is suggesting ā€œhigh resolutionā€. Given that I understand the Ultra’s Google Cast may still be limited to 24/48, I’m not sure though how high ā€œhigh resolutionā€ will now be

We are definitely spoiled and blessed! šŸ‘šŸ»šŸ™šŸ¼

Yes we can already set up multi-room audio between WiiM devices and other Google cast enabled speakers from inside the Google Home app, but only when streaming audio from a Chromecast compatible app.

However, if we're able to set up groups with Google cast endpoints inside the WiiM home app, using the WiiM device as the audio source, this would probably mean we'll be able to cast other digital/analog sources from the WiiM (like a turntable) to Google Home speakers
