No audio after set up

I've set up the Wiim mini and connected it to my Denon AVR-X540BT using both the optical cable and the RCA. I've opted to use the optical and selected for it during set up. However, during the set up during the calibration process, I heard no audio despite getting a message saying that the process was complete

I think with this amp setup, there are a couple of things that need to be set.
The amp inputs are user assigned and you may need to change the setting on optical in to media player (2 channel instead of 5.1)
Also on the remote, there is a sound mode option (bottom left hand corner of the remote) that needs to be set to stereo
