no sound from HDMI ARC Input

I bought a DVD/CD player that I want to connect to my Wiim Ultra using a HDMI ARC cable. When I connect and power up the DVD/CD player, the Wimm app shows "HDMI Cable not Connected" and I get no sound. I have tried multiple HDMI ARC cables and none of them help. This DVD/CD player will work fine when connected to my TV so it seems to be OK and the cable seems OK. I also tried a 2nd DVD/CD player that I have and that one also works with the TV but will not work with the Wiim.
I tried all of the suggestions that Wiim provides for troubleshooting HDMI problems (power cycling all devices, checking cable connections...) and nothing has helped.

The wiim's hdmi input is specifically for ARC, it's not for direct hdmi audio.
You'd connect from the tv's specific hdmi arc port (there's normally just one such hdmi arc port on a tv) to the wiim.
This means that you'd have to listen to cds via the tv, unless the player has another output.

The dvd/cd player has one HDMI ARC output connection Jack. So I would expect that the output from that jack should be the same as HDMI ARC output jack from my TV.

Can you post a picture of that output?

I've never heard of an DVD or Blu-ray player featuring an ARC output. That might not mean much, but the whole idea behind HDMI ARC was sending audio back to a connected device where the TV was the audio source. It's unusual to say the least.

This is from Amazon. The manufacturer is Majority. The owner manual says that the HDMI jack is ARC.

Looks like some creative / misunderstood marketing to me.
Suffice to say it will not work the way you want, direct to ultra hdmi arc input.
I'd suggest returning it, or trying its analog output into the ultra.

Yep, this "majority" don't know what they are talking about. It won't work.

This HDMI port is for connecting the player to a TV. Sound is transferred in a physically different way than HDMI ARC.
