Hi, I really like the WIIM app, it is easy to use and get updated regularly. However I have a disappointment with one of the recent upgrade, where they changed the EQ screen. In that case, it seems they fixed something that was not broken and made it less useful.

All saved EQ used to be on the same screen as current active EQ, it was easy to understand and convenient if you want to go between saved EQ settings for testing. With the last update, they split this on two screen and added info that is pretty useless and clutter the screen.

End result is that this makes the new version less user friendly as you keep having to navigate between screens and add unneeded complexity.

See attached image to see what I mean

* Am I the only one who wish they just brought it back as it used to be? *

Hi

I understand what you are saying, but I personally don't mind. If you want to do a comparison test, you can also use the preset buttons to switch between them.
(The WiiM Remote's preset buttons are more convenient for comparisons while adjusting the EQ.)

Rather, I think it is an advantage that it is easier to see which EQ is currently being applied, and it is no longer possible to press the wrong button and have an unintended EQ applied.

Hi, I see your point, I but differ a bit, maybe because of the way I use it (more on this below). I think the previous version was pretty clear on which EQ is active and one really need to put in some effort to set another EQ by accident, as they were at the bottom, below the current EQ settings, away from accidental finger touch and you needed to scroll down to get to them (P.S. I use my phone). This is what I mean by something that did not needed to be fixed, but your opinion is as good as mine :) I guess we just use it differently.

For the preset suggestion, I must admit I am not very familiar, what I saw of preset is that it can be preset per source or linked to a specific item in "Favorite Preset", although this second option does not seems to work, if I change one EQ setting, on preset #3 for example, when I go back in it revert back to what is currently set on the EQ, losing the setting I previously saved.

On preset, maybe I missed a third available option! However these presets do not fit my need, neither does the remote, which I rarely use.

I keep changing my amp/speaker combination as well as play with speaker’s placement, sometime for equipment testing but mostly according to my choice of the day. So, in all these scenarios, I go in EQ and try different combinations as well as make on the fly modification. So the simpler the EQ selection is, the better in it for these cases.

By the way, fortunately, WIIM fixed the booboo they did previously when changing Room Correction to RoomFit by having the RoomFit EQ in yet another a different emplacement. That was quickly fixed …thanks WIIM.

I am really impressed by WIIM app, their quick upgrade process as well as the fast support answers. I just don’t understand why they keep changing the EQ (this is the second time), as it did not needed to be changed. It reminds me those bogus app upgrade we see on other products, where all they did is change the position of the options in an awkward way, which no one asked for, to call it new and improved version!

I realize I may be an exemption on the way I use it, but still, why make it more complex, especially when it adds nothing new in term of performance or convenience.

If you edit an 'Empty Preset' and specify only the EQ, you can use the preset buttons to switch only the EQ 🙂

Perhaps the WiiM Team didn't try to complicate it, but to make it a smarter UI.

To me this update seems reasonable, but unfortunately for you it wasn't.

Please submit a request ticket via the feedback section of the WiiM app.
(WiiM app -> More -> Feedback)

If there are many requests similar to yours, the team may consider further improvements.

E.g.,
Currently, the small window closes when an EQ is selected on the EQ selection screen, but it would be possible to keep the selection screen displayed as it is without closing it.
