PEQ and RoomFit bypassed when outputting 5.1 audio

I'm using a Wiim Ultra, and the PEQ corrections set in both the EQ and RoomFit sections are applied correctly when playing a movie with surround 5.1 audio output disabled. But when I enable 5.1 output, both the EQ and RoomFit corrections are bypassed immediately.

Am I doing something wrong? Is this a bug?

All help much appreciated.

This problem looks to be fixed now with firmware version 5.2.812048

Happy days!

That's a surprise because it's not mentioned in the firmware release notes.

Are you sure that you can apply EQ freely as you like? There is a documented improvement mentioned regarding Apple TV and low bass level.
100% sure. To test, I put in a HP filter at 500Hz so that the audible difference would be dramatic and not subject to placebo type thinking. The filter's effect is unmistakeable and it works both when the WiiM is decoding 5.1 DD and when it is not.

It also works as part of RoomFit.

You are right that this is not documented in the release notes - I don't know why.

And I don't have Apple TV - so it isn't related to that.

Are you in a position to also test at your end?

No, unfortunately not right now. Maybe this weekend, but I only have a simple pair of stereo speakers in my Ultra setup, so 5.1 support is hardly useful for me.

Maybe I can try it out just for the purpose of testing.

This would make this firmware release even more remarkable.

Seriously! I am waiting for the firmware, but will be able to test once it lands.

WiiM have updated the release notes and confirmed what you already found as a "general improvement". :D

I guess they could have also filed this under highlights for quite a number of users.
