Persistent Qobuz Connect problem

My set up is a Pro as the master and three mini’s as slaves. Qobuz connect on a daily basis stops and will not advance to the next track. The only way to get it to continue is to reboot the Pro. I have raised multiple tickets but they have not come up with a solution. The last time they said it has to do with the SDK, whatever that is. I have done everything they have asked me to try but nothing works. This has been going on for months.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Thanks
.

Yes. This has been a recurrent issue but only for the last few days. Qobuz freezes and the only fix seems to be to reboot the Wiim Pro. I have two Wiim Pros and both have been affected in the same way.

The SDK refers to the development kit that Qobuz provides to third-party developers (WiiM etc..). If there is an issue with the SDK, I guess this suggests that Qobuz needs to fix it.

Just out of curiosity, is this issue limited to Qobuz Connect? Does the same issue occur when playing Qobuz through the WiiM app? Also, how does it work with other sources?

I would say that the issue was probably limited to Qobuz Connect. I just tried to play a hi res Nina Simone track which froze immediately. The same track played just fine through WHA.
I do also have a Cambridge CXN V2, which seems to work well with Qobuz Connect

Thanks for your reply. This problem only happens with QC never with the WHA. I stream using only WiiM streamers.

There was a period of many weeks after adopting QC that were trouble free. Then weeks and weeks ago this madness has developed. I’d like to think that WiiM engineers are in contact with Qobuz engineers, but who knows? It is very frustrating and has me thinking about switching to another brand of streamer(s). WiiM has had months to correct this and they have failed.

I had such a great experience when I tried Qobuz Connect before, so it’s really disappointing that there are issues now. I hope the @WiiM Team can resolve this quickly.

@RyanWithWiiM, @JasonWithWiiM, do you have any updates on this?

Hi @Sliphorn ,

Our engineers are working on improving the Qobuz Connect issues. We plan to release a beta firmware update to address them.

Ok, but I heard the same thing a few times in email correspondences and none of the updates that WiiM claimed would fix the issue have worked. Please note that this has been happening for months and I know WiiM is aware of that because of the multiple tickets I have raised over a lengthy period of time. I really hope you guys fix it this time. I like both WiiM and Qobuz with their Connect feature but I am approaching my wits’ end and would hate to jump ship to another streamer brand that works properly with QC.

Had enough - will give them until the middle of May - if not resolved I'm dumping my WiiM stuff. Was all working great (Qobuz Connect) when it first came out, now just an utter shit show and not fit for purpose.

This isn't an airport or train depot - you don't have to announce your departure. Just quietly let yourself out the door.
Besides, if you piss and moan about how sh!t your WiiM is, how do you expect it to have any resale value??

This post on the Qobuz thread on audiophilestyle might cast some light on recent Qobuz issues too

Ok, then as far as I can tell Qobuz dropped the ball by not making a simple statement through their app or site explaining what Connect users can expect. Same for WiiM. Surely, WiiM must have known of this. Of the many email correspondences I had with them no one at WiiM knew about this? If that’s the case then that is some pizz poor communication between the two companies.

Who knows, maybe that's what WiiM meant in comment #11. I'd think it very unusual if WiiM weren't talking to Qobuz about any issue with Qobuz Connect even if just to ensure the issue wasn't at the Qobuz end of things with their servers or how WiiM were using the API. Maybe the changes WiiM mentioned in that comment are workarounds to cater for the current Qobuz server changes.
