PLANNED: Long album titles on Home Music Shares not shown completely

Unfortunately WiiM doesn't react on tickets from inside their app anymore, so I try it here:

As the thread title says, long album titles on Home Music Shares are not shown completely, which makes it really hard often to distinguish different album version. The album title is just cut off at the end of the line instead of continuing in another line.

You might say, this is a rare problem, but I have to say it is not. I have quite a large collection and often various releases of the same album. It is a problem I face basically every day.

The Foobar2000 app is a good example of how to make it better. I have added 2 screenshots of the view in the WiiM app compared to how it looks in Foobar2000.

I would really appreciate if WiiM concentrated on making the app how it is work flawlessly, instead of adding new features all the time.

No. It should use multiple lines if necessary. It worked before. See post #104. That's what it's supposed to look like.

I use foobar2000 as my music server.
If you report it and make sure to include before and after screenshots they're usually quite good at fixing regressions.

Is there a reason you're still using the WHA and not BubbleUPnP, or if you can tear yourself away from foobar (as a server), Symfonium?

I just ultimately hate BubbleUPnP. Mostly because it exits the app without asking if you press "back" one too many times. It's really a personal incompatibility between BubbleUPnP and me.

And I use foobar2000 because it shows my music collection exactly the way I want it. Tried many others and always got disappointed.

Isn't that controlled by this setting?

No offence, but there’s absolutely no reason to justify why you use a particular format. If the WiiM supports it, it should do so properly, and not discriminate.

If a folder name/album name/track name doesn’t fit, it should either scroll or go on to another line, whichever way you’re viewing.

As I say, no offence.

Yeah, this annoys me a lot too!
In the now playing screen? Accidentally press back? Bursts my Bubble....
In the library screen, nothing happens.
But how often do I press back in the playlist screen, and poof!

I don't know. I think such a setting hasn't been there before. But maybe I missed it. Like I said, it's personal. 😉
I hardly ever use BubbleUPnP but I remember feeling your pain when I did. I'm about sure that this setting (plus the internal battery optimisation setting) should do the trick.

The default BubbleUPnP interface is unnecessarily convoluted; I did suggest to the dev about having a music only profile but nothing came of it.
I asked @MrSoul4470 just in case a little configuration change could improve things for him, or for suggestions on how to improve the app.

I agree, and I've been raising bug reports and feature requests for the last 18+ months - with many still outstanding - but when there are existing solutions that already far exceed what WiiM will ever deliver I wouldn't want/expect anyone to wait.

I don't know. I just don't like the interface and stuff and really don't understand the hype about it. I've tried it many times and really gave it time, but in the end always felt a lot of frustration with it. Bubble and me won't ever become friends, I'm afraid.

Okay guys, someone please tell me that this isn't true!
I'm going to cry myself to sleep now. It's a cruel world.View attachment 24007
Hi MrSoul4470, Team

My apologies for the inconvenience! Our team is working on the fix immediately, and we'll add this to our regression test cases so it won't happen again. Thank you again for your continued patience and support!

I completely understand about the default interface but it can easily be tweaked to something a little cleaner (see attachment if you want to), but at the end of the day it's personal preference.
I think the big draw/hype is about the additional functionality, but that's only relevant if you need it.

I've raised a ticket about the back navigation behaviour because it's catching me out too.

Fair points.

Just for clarity, I think k what most if us want, irrespective of how we’re viewing, that we never get the first portion of a folder, album, or track title, with the last part missing because it’s too long.

Either add another line (or two), or scroll.

Many thanks.
