Play line-in through line-out and airplay?

Is it possible to play something from line-in to line-out while also casting to something like airplay? When I cast to airplay my line-out stops playing.

Is that normal, maybe too hard to sync like this? I searched the forums but couldn't find anything so sorry if it's a common question.
