Reboot the WiiM device under its settings in the WiiM Home app and see if that helps.
Do you happen to have a WiiM Remote linked to that WiiM Device? If so, use the remote's microphone to ask "Alexa, speak at your normal rate" - there is a speed setting in the Audible app, but I don't think that impacts Alexa/WiiM.
If this happens with other Audible books as well, then I'm stumped as what to try next. You may need to submit a ticket to WiiM via feedback in the WiiM app and have them have a look at your device logs.
