WiiM Ultra Firmware v5.2.632547 Update - Oct 15, 2024

Where is the check for Google Cast in use?
You can check the Google Cast version using the Google Home app on your phone. It will be shown under Device Information for your Wiim Ultra in the Google Home app.

I assume you do not yet have the latest Ultra FW...

You mean the "Oct 15, 2024" one, which is my fw build date? ;)
Let me check the actual number...

5.2.632547

So both the same as the thread title.
Interesting… mine is 5.2.632546.

Have you tested its performance? Does it cast up to 192kHz.

I'll try it.
tbh, not used CC on the Ultra since my tests a while back and it just kept stopping part way into a song.
Was waiting for everyone else to say it had been fixed!

Using bubbleupnp on android to CC to the Ultra from my Nas.
Playing INXS Kick HD which is 192 khz.
Ultra hooked up to RME ADI2 dac via usb and coax.
Both rme inputs show 192khz.
On the 6th track now, with no issues so far.
Done a few track skips and seeks; working quickly and without issues.

Well, no sound issues anyway.
Bubble is showing track/album art, but wiim app and ultra screen aren't.
Wiim shows the artist and track info, just not the artwork.
If I change bubble to cast upnp the artwork appears.

Rather annoyingly, switching back to CC and the Ultra confirms the connection with a chirrup noise.

Excellent.

If DLNA Cast is completed in addition to Chromecast, it will solve many of the problems that WiiM faces.

I only use AM so I could not test it. Thanks. 😄

🤔 I can't find that info in my Google Home App. When i go to devices i see my Pro and my Ultra. If i tap one of them a screen opens with a large circle in the midst of the page representing volume output. Under this image i have two labels or buttons
Add a room
Cast audio
By tapping the two buttons, neither of them gives me the info on the App version
In the upper right corner i have three dots, if i tap the dots i have
Guide
Feedback
Am I doing something wrong? Or should I look somewhere else?
One more thing. I did some experiments, just out of curiosity, because I don't use CC.
Now streaming with CC via Bubble or WHA the streaming is bit perfect. I even reach the highest resolutions.
But if I use CC with the native Qobuz App, I'm always limited to CD quality. Could it be something to do with Qobuz? Maybe Qobuz has further lowered the limit it had imposed on Qobuz (96 KHz) reducing it to CD quality?

Also just used bubble to CC tidal (proxy disabled) to the ultra.
Again, 192khz track plays (and seeks) with no audio issues, and rme shows 192.
But still no artwork and that annoying chirrup!

Can’t you turn off the chirrup in the Google Home app?

Obviously ;)

The wiim needs to be in a room to get the gear icon next to the 3 dots.
Many thanks. After having created a room and after having added the WiiMs to that room now i have the gear icon 🤗
Thx again. I did'nt know that because, as i told, i don't use CC

From the gear icon > Device Features > Audio > Playback Sounds.
Cheers!
Don't know why, but my Ultra was my only wiim to have that option enabled.
Can't say I recall disabling it for any of my pros, and certainly not for the amp in the last few weeks.
