Playing flac Files on Amp Pro

I do not do any normal streaming. I have quite a few flac music files on a USB flash drive and I am able to play them on my amp pro, but found out the USB input option is not EQ supported, which makes listening to music more than limited, especially if you have hearing problems or need to adjust sound for room characteristics. Is there another way to play flac files through a port that has EQ functionality? Not having EQ for the USB input option seems like a major oversight.

What makes you think EQ isn’t supported for USB input? Never heard that said before. Have you tried messing around with EQ (I.e. making large changes at either end of the sound spectrum) to see if you hear any difference?

Because it ISN'T supported at this point. I have submitted that and am told they will look into it. That makes the existing EQ function basically worthless for USB listening, right? I can't mess with settings that don't exist for the USB input. :)

Certain things like bass management aren't supported on the USB OUTPUT but I have never heard about restrictions on the USB INPUT.

Do you mean using the amp pro’s usb output into an external DAC/headphone amp, or just playing files from usb attached storage to the speakers? I use my Ultra most of the time and it happily plays FLAC files from the usb attached drive and EQ/peq/rc are fully functional playing out over usb to my linn amp.

Yeah, I guess there’s a clash of terminology here, or an issue with the amp pro usb that isn’t present on the Ultra.

I’ve just attached a small usb drive with a small number of FLAC files into my Amp Pro playing to its speakers and EQ is certainly working for me.
And as I said, EQ is also working for my USB output into my Linn Amp, so I’m confused as to what the issue is.

Isn't USB input always handled by the internal Music Server? And therefore the EQ assigned to the Network (WiFi or Ethernet).
Ah, so the issue is that usb isn’t listed as a source on the EQ page? That’s a different slant from what I’ve been taking. Yes, you’re correct that it uses the WiFi EQ setting as it’s basically a home music share, same as if you were using an external NAS/media server.

So again, you can play files from a USB attached drive and apply EQ/peq/rc to it, you just don’t have a separate label on the EQ pages…

When you connect a USB drive does USB appear as a source in EQ settings?

Edit. Too late 🤣

So, the fact remains you can apply EQ to files played from the usb drive, it’s just that WiFi is a catch all label for all local and network delivered resources…

"... just that WiFi is a catch ..." may be not obvious for an enduser playing flac files from usb input. 😉
Yeah, but I would have hoped WiiM support could have got to the nub of the issue faster than we did I.e. EQ is applied to files read from a usb drive, it’s just that it’s bundled in with other sources under “wi-fi” on the EQ page.

At least https://forum.wiimhome.com/threads/...-we-supposed-to-change-eq-for-usb-input.3334/ confirms your statement.
@skfisk : You have the option to Import your flac files into a supported DLNA Server and stream them via network.
I don't want to do anything over the network. I don't do streaming. All I want to do is play flac music files I have placed on a USB flash drive, through my amp pro to a pair of speakers. Basically. I am using the amp pro as a preamp and amp to drive local speakers. However, I Do want to be able to adjust sound to compensate hearing limitations we have. That requires EQ since WiiM devices do not have base/treble/loudness controls. All I can say at this point is a WiiM tech says the USB input cannot currently access EQ. If it does, I sure can't find any way to do it. If I click Browse and select USB as the input, the EQ option disappears, no matter what I do next.
