PLEX Still Giving "No Server Available" Error

I have a PLEX server running on MacOS, and a WiiM Ultra. They are both wired connections on the same network. The WiiM Ultra can see the PLEX media server, all its contents, but when going to play the Server through the Wiim Ultra I get a "No Server Available".

I have read all the posts here, but no luck with anything from them. I see a solution from some users for checking the "host" box in network settings on the server, but that doesn't exist (or at least I can't find it) in the desktop Mac PLEX server software.

Any help would be greatly appreciated with getting the MacOS version of the server to talk or let the Wiiim Ultra to play.

My Plex server is running in a docker container on Intel Clear Linux but the networking principles are the same. Since you're running Plex server directly on your host, it has access to the host's interfaces. It sounds like discovery is working, but streaming isn't working yet.

MacOS shouldn't be running a local firewall, but that could be an issue. System Settings > Network > Firewall and add incoming connections for Plex Media Server.

I'm assuming that you have DLNA enabled.


Try setting secure connections to preferred in Settings > Network. This will require a restart of Plex server. This makes connections more permissive.


Also, strict TLS in Settings > Network is off in my setup. This is optional and also makes connections more permissive.

THANK YOU SO MUCH. I would have thought the WiiM had the same security / preferred protocol as the PLEX server, always wanting the secure connection instead of preferred, but it DOES indeed now work! I can't thank you enough ... Its greatly appreciated.
