Got some crackling noises and pops when listening cds with cd player (rotel 970bx). Tried fidling with different line in level setting but no difference. Tried eq on and off. What could be wrong?

I had a similar problem when listening to cd’s through line in on my Rotel CD14. With mine it wasn’t all cd’s. I think it was cd’s that were “louder” if that makes sense, remastered cd’s vs a disc from years ago. Anyways after much frustration I stumbled onto a fix. Try Audio Input - Line-in Input Resolution and try changing bit depth to 24 bits. This solved my issue, maybe it will work for you too.

Thx mate! That fixed it. Had it also set to 48khz. Changed to 44khz and 24 bit.

I have/had the same issue using my Emotiva ERC-3 CD player. Popping and crackling is how I'd describe it. Switching the "Line In" Input Resolution to 24 bit seems to have resolved it. Along with all of you I am curious if this is an issue of concern of if I should just run with it. I saw in another thread someone had the same issue when using a phono pre-amp plugged into the "Line In" input. As my ERC-3 is also a transport I plan to try plugging it in via optical and coax to see what gives me the best sound (which DAC sounds better). Regardless, I'd like to feel reassured there is nothing "wrong" with the Line In input channel.

I’m running with it as it’s been fine since I made the change plus I’m now passed the Amazon return window. I should mention that the Wiim team was with me as we tried to figure out why it was happening. They were really great. Let us know how you make out when you try those other options.
