Ah, excellent, thank you!Welcome.
Yes, the output can be set to a fixed sample rate / bit depth.
e.g. toggle the final option to fix it

Which wiim were you thinking of?Ah, excellent, thank you!
And what happens if source sample rate is higher than the fixed one?Welcome.

Downsample surely, just like if the (non-fixed) max is set to lower than the source. And what happens if source sample rate is higher than the fixed one?
I was thinking about either the Pro or the Pro Plus. Any recommondations?Which wiim were you thinking of?
I believe all but the wiim mini support fixed sample rates.
The others support it on all their outputs, optical, coax and usb where they have it, as far as i know.
At least, all the ones I have do.![]()
So it's not exactly for the scenario "88.2k or higher".Downsample surely, just like if the (non-fixed) max is set to lower than the source.
Do you mean that wiim don't provied for 88.2, or are you driving at something else?So it's not exactly for the scenario "88.2k or higher".
I think the suggestion is that only audio less than that should be upsampledDo you mean that wiim don't provied for 88.2, or are you driving at something else?
Maybe depends on other useage.I was thinking about either the Pro or the Pro Plus. Any recommondations?
The Wiim will output the rate/samples as you have set it. No switching, always the same. And what happens if source sample rate is higher than the fixed one?
Thanks, you`ve been really helpful! I think the Pro will probably be sufficient then as I will be using another dac.Maybe depends on other useage.
e.g. the analog input (which is converted to digital) and analog output on the pro plus are both "better' than the pro.
But if all you want is (non-usb) digital out then I don't recall any evidence showing one is better than the other.
And I now understand what @onlyoneme is getting at!![]()
Not mine, the filter on 44.1-files are to steep I find, it cuts a bit of the highest frequencies, it does a much better job with 88.2 and higher filesIt's always best to sent the native bit depth & sample rate of a particular file/track to a dac.
Nope. That's why HQPlayer exists. It's always best to sent the native bit depth & sample rate of a particular file/track to a dac.
Does this upconvert setting apply also when you use the Wiim as a Chromecast, for Airplay, Tidal Connect etc or is it just when you use the native app?Maybe depends on other useage.

Working for any input to any digital output.Does this upconvert setting apply also when you use the Wiim as a Chromecast, for Airplay, Tidal Connect etc or is it just when you use the native app?
Excellent, thanks!Working for any input to any digital output.
