Hi eveyone,

My setup comprises of WiiM Pro Plus connected via rca cable to Rega Brio amp and also from my laptop, using 3.5mm jack to rca line in of WiiM Pro Plus. The laptop volume is at max but the overall music volume is controlled by the Rega Brio. Noticed the pre-gain volume of the WiiM Pro is set at default at 0db ( 50 % ). Is it safe to increase or decrease the pre-gain volume of WiiM Pro Plus?
What is the correct way to listen music from laptop ( stored music file and Youtube ) without causing damage or distortion to speakers.

1. Laptop volume max > WiiM Pro pre-gain 0db > Rega
2. Laptop volume 50% > WiiM Pro pre-gain 0db > Rega
3. Laptop volume min > WiiM Pro pre-gain +10db > Rega
4. Laptop volume 50% > Wiim Pro pre-gain +10db > Rega
5. Laptop volume max > WiiM Pro pre-gain -10db > Rega

Much appreciated for your kind advice. Thank you.

Hello SR1, the pre-gain settings are trim controls to increase or decrease the gain for sources that output low or high level signals, to make it match the signals of other sources. The default 0dB setting is not 50%, it's 100% like unity gain.
I would say the "correct way" to listen to music from your laptop is not use it's build-in soundcard and go for a USB to spdif (optical) solution like a Cubilux USB transmitter, usb-a of usb-c version whichever you need for your particular laptop.

Note it’s a usb to optical convertor that’s being proposed and “usb-a of usb-c version” is a typo - it should read “usb-a or usb-c version”
