Qobuz Qobuz Club - Qobuz Connect Beta preview

I edited my post above. Not chromecast issues but transcoding, for example in iOS devices wired to DACs. AMU used to automatically transcode every track to the max playback quality set on the device. That may have changed by now but I saw that a year or so ago.
Did you mean that the bit depth displayed on the DAC was always 192 kHz?

I did not know that.
The FireTV AMU seems to upsample everything to 24/192, but I haven't heard that about iOS. (Maybe I just don't know.)

The AMU resolution display has been changed several times.
Also, I don't know if it is accurate or not, so we would need to check on the DAC side.

Not bit depth changes only but outright transcoding. I saw that on iPhones and iPads connected to external DACs. Everything transcoded to 192kHz, not what I wanted. I do not know if it is still going on, but probably.

What do you think of Nano?
Many people would be interested in your comparative review.😁

Very early days but 1st impression I HATE the Bluesound App ..... now part of this may be Android based but I use Amazon Unlimited and on an iOS device it's so much easier to find and select Albums / Artists you've put in your library.

Soundwise .... have to say I think it's going to the Nano, the Wiim is generally "sharper" across the range, the Nano's bass seems "fuller" but also punchier ... these ar every early impressions though.

I've had free trials on Tidal and Qobuz and keep coming back to Amazon, I know a lot of people don't like their App bet on iOS it's much beter than any of the others for selecting your bookmarked music, it's one of the reasons I've been a fan of the WiiM's, being able to cast from your device and get 24/192 gapless / lossless is brilliant and so easy to creat MRM groups.

What are the vacuums like by the way ..... do you have dogs?

Thanks.😊
Bluesound does not support Alexacast?

The robot vacuum has been great so far. It mops when done and even cleans and dries the mop automatically. My dog sleeping in the kennel so that is not a problem. 😄

From what I can see and me asking in forums a year or so ago and no it doesn't ... it's one of the main reasons I went with WiiM instead, you may possibly be able to set it up for voice commands but a quick google search shows that's not wothout problems.

For this reason may look at Tidal.

I'd thought about a robot vacuum as we have 2 black labs and a light coloured flooring in a kitchen living area, the 2 of them produce an unholy amount of hair between them and you have to hoover every day .... my reservation was how quickly it'd fill teh hoover up although I think some can empty themselves but I don't knwo what sort of capacity they have.

My vacuum can automatically collect about 3 liters of waste in the station. If there is a lot of dog hair, I think you can solve your problem by cleaning more often.

Please see a comparison video of robot vacuums on Youtube's "The Hook up" channel. 😄

Have you used the Nano connected to an external DAC? I am curious about its performance via USB out.

I read that you use Android devices and are looking for a streaming source. My experience with Amazon Music Unlimited is mixed, as I found it tends to automatically transcode everything to the max setting (say 192kHz). Have you considered Apple Music? Of all music repositories that’s the one with excellent mastering sound and metadata. I suspect the Nano supports it natively (not sure). It does not support Apple Music natively.

Amazon music will play everything at the max resolution of the device it’s playing on if that’s windows, iOS, Fire o/s or Android even when connected to an external DAC. However, third party implementations from device rather than o/s manufacturers like Bluesound , Denon, Yamaha and of course WiiM will play bitperfect from their own apps. Where the others fall down but WiiM doesn’t is playing bit perfect from the Amazon Music app or Alexa to their devices - WiiM is still the only one that does that to the best of my knowledge, from the Mini upwards.

Correct!

I've not tried it with an external DAC as I only have a Topping E30 and would have thought the one in the Nano is probably better. I'm using the DAC in the Nano and analogue into my Amp .... you have just given me a thought though I have a 2nd digital inut on my amp so may take the optical out from the Nano into my amp as well as the WiiM.

I also have someone coming round on Tuesday with a Chord Qutest, what I wanted to try most was see what the WiiM into the Qutest sounds like, if that's then as good or better than the Nano I'll stay with WiiM for my critical listening.

As @Burnside mentions as well the quality is a factor although I've just signed up for a month with Tidal so I can use that with the Nano as it doesn't play well with Amazon Music App.

Try if you can USB-out for clock reconstruction.

Is Qobuz swimming in cash? I doubt it very much...🤔
Qobuz is a transnational company, it is not a local company, so maybe it does not swim in cash but it is not a poor company, all subscriptions bring you income. I don't write in English because I don't speak English, WiiM should being a company of its size and with its income stop racism and put an automatic translator in all forums and places where customers can write, since it has a great variety of customers of different nationalities and not all of us speak English.

The difference is: for some reason people don't bother WiiM for not introducing Spotify Hi-Fi, but for not introducing Qobuz Connect.

Once again: it is Qobuz's job to develop Qobuz Connect, not WiiM's.

It's not like WiiM enabled a generic "connection" function for the S and T streaming services, but refused to do so for the Q streaming service. It just doesn't work that way.
Spotify Hi-fi was not in the course of action of its devices, Qobuz Connect was

Please use google translate to post in English, other members manage to do that.

In my opinion, it is for convenience, not racism.

The Chrome browser offers automatic translation, but it does not translate well when multiple languages are mixed on a single page.

I don't see how we can easily implement an automatic translation system on this forum that goes beyond Google. We are in a fortunate time where we can use a very useful tool that already exists for free.😄
