Radial play and clicking noise in the outer ring of the Amp Pro volume knob

Hi everyone,
I have a WiiM Amp Pro and I notice some radial play in the outer ring of the volume knob (around ~0.5 mm upward).
It’s directional (top/right only) and comes with a small contact clicking noise when just touched laterally (just touched, no pression). The encoder itself works fine; this seems limited to the outer aluminum ring.
I’d like to check:
  • Do other Amp Pro owners experience the same thing?
  • Or is your volume knob completely solid with no lateral play/click?
Trying to understand if this is normal tolerance or a unit-specific issue.
Thanks for your feedback!

It‘s a plastic knob, not aluminum. It‘s stuck onto the axis with a rubber link. The clicking you have mentioned is probably a rubber squeeking/snapping noise. Nothing that will compromise the functionallity. Not nice bit that‘s just the price for the price🤣.

Apologies. You are right that is a plastic ring. Is that radial play and rubber squeeking/snapping noise typical on most units?

My Ultra doesn‘t have it. But I‘ve read of others with the same issue on this very forum.

Yes, if I (gently) "wobble" the amp pro volume knob it moves by maybe 0.5 mm and makes a clicking sound.

Does pressing the corner pause or resume music playback? If so, that's normal.
No. Pressing the center button does that. For the ring it is a radial play (am not even pressing it, just making a contact), bottom and left part of the ring are fixed but not upper and right part of it, like if it was slightly broken or something

I checked my Amp Pro. On mine, the bottom part of the knob has the most play.

There seems to be some variation between units, but I guess this is likely within the normal range. If you're concerned, I recommend submitting a ticket so our team can review your video.

Many thanks for having taken the time!
Indeed seems similar ring play but weirdly not similarly localized
