I have an old Panasonic DVD-S75 player connected to WiiM Amp with both RCA and optical cable.
I understand that optical connection should be far better, but I did many test with many kind of music and did not hear any difference
Did someone made the same test ?

Maybe that old DVD player has a very good internal DAC?

Google shows that it has a Burr Brown 6 channel DAC with 24bit/192khz resolution, which in theory has more bandwidth than the optical cable which only gives 96khz.

Well just connected my Ultra to my DAC with a Toslink.

The highest it can go is 24bit/96kHz, compared to 24bit/192kHz with the Coaxial.

It seems to be a limitation on the DAC's optical input. For some reason I can't do 192 on the optical.

Perhaps you need a more suitable DAC if you want to use this connection method.

No intention of using it. I was just playing around with my new (to me) DAC. Which I'm very happy with.

I've always prefer RCA over Toslink, even without bandwidth differences, it's a more solid connection.
