Remote

A question for anybody with remote control issues, do you leave your devices on standby when not in use, or do you disconnect from the mains when not in use?

I leave my devices on standby, and have not had any issues with my six remote controlled WiiM devices responding to their respective remote controls on first button press.
Yes mine is off overnight and I am pretty sure that is the reason in my case.

So does your remote always show as connected in the app even after unplugging the amp?
What do you mean “unplugging”? Disconnect the power from my wall or press the power button on the remote? Obviously if I unplug from the outlet I’ll have no power, therefore no WiFi. If I press the power button on the remote, and put the amp in standby, then yes I can see it in the app.

I mean actually removing the power. When it is next connected to power the remote doesn't show up in the Home app until I press a button.

Oh ok 👍🏼 I never unplug the amp. But it seems kinda obvious to me that if you unplug your WiiM and then plug it back it in you’ll run into some kind of connection issue.
Maybe the remote goes into some kind of standby mode and doesn't try to reconnect until you press a button.

That’s what I’m thinking. It’s odd though in some of the previous comments it didn’t sound like others were unplugging their devices. It sounded like the remote turning off due to never using it. 🤷‍♂️

Could be a battery saving measure. If yours doesn't disconnect though, maybe not.

Just tested with a power off/on of the Ultra. No issue with the remote.

As the OP described, this looks like a kind of timeout of the remote itself.

Yeah on HIS remote. Has the OP replaced the remote? It could be faulty. I just realize that he’s been radio silent on this thread since Aug 😂

Same here. The Amp Pro seems to be a little more sensitive than the Amp and the Ultra. But the Amp Pro is also the only device where I'm using rechargeable batteries in the remote. They have a lower nominal voltage than non-rechargeable ones, so this might add to the "issue".

Without having performed exact stories I think that the number of hours the WiiM device has been disconnected from the mains is another factor.

Maybe this is triggered only if the paired device is unavailable for a certain time.

I just tried powering on my Amp after around 30 minutes unplugged and the remote had disappeared from the app.

I tested it on my Amp.😄

When I turned on the Amp, WHA recognized the Remote after rebooting. (I have to switch the WHA screen to confirm this.)

This video begins with Amp turning on.

Then just one press of the preset button and the music plays. Thus, the Remote will automatically connect to the device even after power on/off or reboot.

If it does not work the same way, I think there is a problem somewhere.

(It is possible that the issue could be caused by radio interference, but I don't know because I have never experienced that...)

How long had your Amp been unplugged for before restarting it..We came to the conclusion that the behaviour changed after the Amp had been unplugged for a longer time.
