Remove NAS shuffle / preset track limits

Hi Folks,

I love my Ultra its just about perfect for my use cases, however the limit on the current NAS playback / shuffle tracks is a huge drawback, especially for Presets.

In my testing, direct playback of 'all tracks' from my NAS in the app seems to go beyond 500 tracks, but not consistently through my full library ( a few times I have seen a 7,997 track limit which i cant consistently replicate, but mostly the track cap sems to be 3,000 tracks). Even worse, Presets still appear to cap song lists at 500 tracks (*cry*).

My library is just under 10,000 tracks, which is on the small side compared to many folk. I use the Ultra at my desktop and would love to simply press a Preset to have the Ultra shuffle across my full NAS library and just let it play. No need to use the phone Wiim app at all.

The 500 track speed limit on Presets severely limits one of the Ultra's best “set and forget” use cases. Im sure lots of folk use the Ultra to connect to their NAS and have huge libraries.

It would be so great if WiiM could add support for true full library NAS shuffle, including via presets and ideally from the touchscreen. I dont want to depend on third party apps like mconnect player to simply shuffle play all my tracks via the Ultra. Please Wiim can we make this happen?

Completely agree. The preset limit is a big issue and encouraging me to look at other systems. Please improve.

First, it would help for you to clarify exactly how you are accessing you NAS. Are you using DLNA / UPnP or SMB or one of the other server interfaces - Plex, LMS, etc?? If DLNA, is it a full-featured server such as MinimServer?? Or the simple DNLA Server offered by Synology Audio Server or the QNAP equivalent??

I guess I get what it's doing based on that thread, but I can't comprehend how I can start a playlist with 3000 from a media share location (MediaMonkey) but if I save it as a favorite it is only the first 500 songs, and what appears to be the first 500 alphabetically. It's just a frustrating feature. You pay to have the touch interface with the Ultra, but ultimately you always have to use the phone app if you really want to listen to the music you want.

I don't have that issue with 320,000 tracks. But I use LMS. Although how to check the server will randomise from those 320,000 tracks?

Switch servers.

ok increased max playlist size, went into various artists branch added them ....and :D

I don't quite know what you are showing there. It's not about the inability to play a large playlist casting to wiim, that works great. It's about saving a playlist to a wiim ultra preset and that preset limits to 500 tracks, regardless of how many were originally in the playlist before adding it to the preset.

I think as opined in the link, a preset seems to save the play queue that's generated from that playlist, and the queue is limited to 500 tracks.

I understand that it's possible to use Lyrion/LMS' http interface and store a relevant url in an Open Network Stream entry which you can then set as a preset - if your media server had a similar http interface, it might be able to do what LMS can. For example, I could use a url similar to "http://192.168.1.nnn:9000/Default/p...sess=1&index=10&player=wiim_ultra&action=play" to play one of my LMS favourites from LMS to my WiiM Ultra and have that stored via Open Network Stream and used as a preset.

I heard it's possible to create a playlist in a media player like winamp, foobar or something then export it - then LMS can read that it?
Certainly a lot better than doing it on the device
