Rename of inputs should also show on the display

The App allow the line in and optical in to be renamed, but the names do not transfer to the ultra display. If you then use the display to change the input, the names do not show.
I raised this issue 4 months ago (ticket #509810) and also suggested that all input and output should be allowed to be renamed. The answer from @WiiM Support was:

"Should the opportunity arise to implement this feature in the future, we will certainly consider it."

Nothing has happened since.

Even with the current implementation the naming should show on the Ultra display, attached are the names in the IOS app and a shot of the screen

No. It cannot. There are no API command implemented to do that. The renaming is for each WiiM Home App installation for now.

Yes it is a bit annoying to see playback screen with Optical In while I renamed it to CD Player :)

I raised this 5 months ago and it was closed with the following answer:

"Right now, the feature you suggested is not available in our system. We greatly appreciate your suggestion and have added your request to our feature list. Should the opportunity arise to implement this feature in the future, we will certainly consider it."

Please feel free to raise it again. I looks like it has been forgotten.

Yeah, it would be great if the new names would also show on the display, kind of pointless the way it currently is. Also I would not also like to rename Line In and Optical In, but also TV, Phono In, Line Out, Optical Out and Coax Out.

Hi Team,

Thank you for your feedback regarding the source input and output.

We’ll update the display to show the customized name instead of the original one. Stay tuned for the upcoming update!

It's good to hear this is being worked on! Showing the renamed inputs on the display will make things so much easier. It would be even better if we could rename all inputs and outputs like TV and Phono In too.

Finally. I have had this as a ticket since August 2024 (#509810 Ultra input source rename).

Please also consider the name of the network inputs. Change from "WiFi" and "Ethernet" to "Streaming". There is no need to indicate what network connection you use in the name. Some times it's not even any of those but internal (local). (#523979 Network input name), (#515890 Split network input selection into actual sources.).

Because of your own remarks, "Network" was the more universal term than streaming.

I don't see too many others requesting this, though, and can imagine other contradicting on the need to display the actual connection type.

Would you also call it Network when playing from attached USB disk?

I surely wouldn't call it "Streaming." :)

Since the USB storage is made available to the entire network, not just locally to the WiiM device, "Network" still sounds like a better fit to me.

How to deal with the general asymmetry concerning USB/Ethernet/Wi-Fi is yet another topic.

Ok. I don't agree ;)

They might listen but they don't hear 🤣
I'm sure they are. And then they start contemplating. Hey, even super computers. like Deep Thought don't come up with a response each and every century ...

Just noting that you said in January that this was coming and there have been several updates since. Given the simplicity of the feature (it’s surely less trouble than room correction or wireless 5.1, etc) it would be nice to see this delivered on the next update. Thank you.

I actually asked for it, in a ticket, last August :p
