Room correction

Hello everyone. I am a new Wiim Ultra owner, and also quite new to this hobby. Have tried the room correction and felt some improvements. However, would like to ask more experienced people here, looking at my room measurements attached, does my room sound good? I really don’t know anything about room EQ. Thanks.
Apart from from the big dip above 50Hz it looks OK. What did the response look like before room correction?

Thanks for the response! Can I get the history from the app? Or should I take a new measurement?

Also there is such thing as target curve B&K, Harman and Flat, which one I should choose? I mostly listen to EDM, my room is quite small 11*14, I have a thick rug and the walls covered with curtains. Like in photo.

Target curve are personal preference but most users choose bk. Try that first and see how you like it.
 
I also have a big dip around 80hz. No matter what I do, this dip is always there. Even if equalization should change something, the results are not great.

At first, I thought it was because I had the cutoff set to 80hz for my sub in the app, but later I changed to cutoff for main speakers below 50hz and used sub baypass mode + set on my sub to 80hz - nothing changed. Changed to 100hz, dip at 80 still there

Probably waves must somehow cancel each other out?

Well, we must ask some experts here. Is 50-100 hz considered low bass territory? I was planning to put foam corner bass traps on the wall behind the speakers. Wonder if that would work.

If you're using a phone mic I'd stop correction at 4k.
You've got a big dip at 60hz that could be the natural roll off the speaker

I'd reset any boosts to 0 tbh

Thanks. Yes I am using iPhone 14 Pro Max microphone. Should I redo the correction as shown in the screenshot settings?

The boost on band 2 (67hz) does not seem to be having any effect, so turning it off should not be a problem.

To see if this dip is a room issue, you can try using a house curve app or similar.

You can place the phone in a location other than the hearing position (near the speakers or elsewhere) and take measurements to see if the trough disappears.

If this is a room issue, it may be alleviated by changing the speaker placement, seating position, or adding a subwoofer.
 
Completed the new settings for independent right and left channels and in my sensitive monoblock amplifier system, it's outstanding!
Had to run the tests for it twice but the improvement is such a great benefit. YMMV.

Used an external Shure microphone attached to an iPad running the WiiM RC setup that way.

This is a significant breakthrough from the initial WiiM Room Correction implemented earlier in my system. I'm very pleased to achieve such an audible improvement as I'm listening to a superb album recommendation: "Reach" by Christian Sands. The entire album sounds incredible and on the track "Oyeme!" the percussion is just strolling around from each speaker with unreal dynamism and space.

It's a simplified offering but the separation is simply amazing for the instrumentation. For my system, it's a significant upgrade!

Thank you WiiM and thank you for the foresight and efforts to date with this one being especially grand! Thank you very much for being so forward in thinking, execution and implementation beyond a simple streaming product.

I agree on you it’s breakthrough in comparison from earlier released of rc. I don’t think wiim is done tweaking rc as they will incorporate auto level and expanded band beyond 10.

Thank you for such a detailed response. I have already pulled the speakers about a meter from the front wall, that is the max I can do. Seating position is close to the back wall so that to leave space for partying in the middle)). My speaker specs show that they go as low as 37hz, if I add a subwoofer should I crossover it around 80hz in the app and ask the subwoofer to work on those lower frequencies?

Hey thanks, you got me really excited on trying this method. I will try to get an external mic, are there any requirements? Also is there any explanation on how to connect a mic to your phone? Sorry for being such a noob)

The external microphone is not a requirement to implement the updated Room Correction. I've used an iPhone and an iPad but dug out an external Shure microphone I had bought some years back for $80. It seemed to do the best connected to an old iPad so I kept one setting that way and another on the iPhone on the earlier WiiM RC.

(Depending on the iPhone version, it may allow an external jack connection for an external mic or another method using a different microphone connector. The WiiM RC is designed to allow for using the internal iPhone microphone so no reason not to use it.)

In my highly sensitive monoblock tube system, this dual RC is a significant system improvement. I'm tremendously impressed with the results in my room. (i've also cheated with the original WiiM Pro using a 5v external power supply and Cisco ethernet boxes running fiber from a fiber optic router. One helleva bang with this WiiM RC update.)

It might be possible to improve this by putting sound absorbing material on the wall behind the seats, but I won't know until try..

Yes.
I think you need to find an appropriate place for the sub.
 
What’s the consensus regarding orienting iPhones (12 and newer)? Horizontal, bottom point forward or vertical with back pointing forward? In either presentation, should the other mic be covered?

This tone signal starts at 110 Hz and goes down by 10 Hz. If this sounds smooth at the listening position, the 67Hz dip may not be a big problem.

This was measured at the listening position in my room (3m*4m). My ears can hear a slight dip at 70Hz, but overall it sounds smooth. 30Hz seems a little louder. (Note that the 100Hz area is boosted for my taste.)

And this was measured with the mic at a point 50 cm right in front of my ear; you can see the 70 Hz dip is getting deeper and wider. Just moving the listening position a little changes it in no small way.
