@WiiM Team, love the addition of the shortcut to the EQ! Just FYI: On my tablet it is not displayed when in landscape mode. Portrait works just fine. Galaxy Tab S7 if that helps.

Thanks!

Someone, translate to simple English please.

It seems a new RC feature was silently introduced in this version as well; something that was requested several times so far: "Cut-Only Mode". :)

The name is IMHO a bit misleading because one might think that with this enabled RC (RoomFit now) doesn't use any positive gain filters at all. However, RC does still use positive gain PEQ filters (in line with the separate Max Gain and Min Gain setting), but it now makes sure that the maximum total gain of all filters together never goes over 0dB.

To illustrate, here's an example of 'regular' RC filters ("Cut Only Mode" disabled):

As you can see the total gain goes over the 0dB line at several places (circled in red).

And here's the RC calculated filters for the same system once the new "Cut Only Mode" is enabled:

The filters now remain below 0dB, meaning that the output signal post RC isn't boosted at all (resulting in more digital and amplifier headroom).

This is IMHO a very welcome addition to RC - something I at least was hoping for a while!

Thanks @WiiM Team! :giggle:

P.S. I did notice a few strange RC results in my system after this new upgrade (interestingly this was only with "Cut Only Mode" disabled) - I may need to open a new support ticket for these.

That is a hell of a large aircraft flying under the radar!

I also noticed the Cut-Only Mode and achieved pretty good results with it (maybe the fresh implemented iPhone calibrated mic file did help too). I am really happy with the sound without applying GEQ for the first time. :)

Thank you @dominikz for explaining why positive gain filters can still be seen. I was expecting only negative ones, but it does totally make sense now.

Thanks for trying this out so fast.

I had noticed the new switch but have been wondering indeed why it wouldn't disable the Max. Gain option.

Didn't have the time to play with it yet, but this is looking promising.

It amuses me how many items in these updates just have me scratching my head and thinking," just what on earth are they talking about".
I'm beginning to think I've become gormless. 🤣
