SACD support

I have a lot of SACD iso files on my NAS, but I see that it is not supporting. maybe in future add support for this format ? Or I need to search for convertors ?
WiiM does not support SACD ISO files, only SACD DSF files, but be aware that it converts them to PCM. If you want to convert ISO files to DSF, search the web; several tools are available.

Sure, why not support other dead formats like BetaMax too?
Really? Why the smart a$$ remark on a legitimate request for a future upgrade? DSD is not a dead format like Betamax. I also have hundreds of DSF files of ripped SACDs. It would be great if WiiM streamers especially the Ultra could play DSD/DSF files without conversion to PCM. But for now I'm fine with the DSF to PCM conversion with my Ultra and Pro.

Agreed.. The Eversolo’s can do it but I presume the reasons why it hasn’t been included in the WiiM is limitations of the hardware?

I have two Eversolo DMP-A6 streamers in two different systems. They do in fact play DSF files of ripped SACDs without conversion to PCM. That's a good question on whether playing DSD/DSF files without conversion to PCM is a WiiM hardware limitation.

My first streamer was a BluseSound Node and it was a nightmare in regard to playing DSF files. All of the DSF files on my hard drives had to be converted to PCM files before the Node would even play them. Now the newer BlueSound streamers will play DSD/DSF files without conversion to PCM. But the BlueSound streamers are overpriced and Lenbrook (BS parent company) is embracing MQA. I'll gladly accept DSF to PCM conversion with WiiM streamers any day over owning a BlueSound streamer.

Really? Why the smart a$$ remark
You ever been on an internet forum before? They're full of people who can't resist making unnecessary "smart a$$" remarks.......

Seriously, I'll thumbs up this. I'm all for the support of any, all and as many ways to enjoy music as possible. I received my monthly cassette subscription today. It's full of brand new music by artists, most of whom, weren't born when the cassette, as a format, was pronounced dead by most people.

I've been on AVS, the Steve Hoffman and a few other audio forums for many years. So yes I've been on internet forums for years. I'm well aware of how many people can't resist to post smart a$$ remarks. That doesn't mean one can't respond to those posts and call out that person for it.

But converts to PCM ..
It's already pretty good if it works well. And it prevents you from ending up with unreadable SACDs
(I don't have any SACD files to test (on a "Plus" device) to validate/verify this... Are there any files available for download, even short ones...?
;-)

Some available here

I've got about 100 ripped SACDs and their related ISO files in .DSF format. I've noticed Plexamp does play back but perfect DSD when I hook up my phone to an external DAC.

So I'm certainly hoping for DSD playback here as well.

It does seem to scratch a certain itch that I don't always get with the same files converted to PCM.

Edit: bonus points if that includes multichannel support as well. Almost all of my discs have quadrophonic or 5.1 mixes in addition to the stereo mix.

Especially when they are flat out wrong, SACD is not dead like Betamax, not even close.

SACD continues to be pressed albeit not in mainstream quantities, but then again CD isn't pressed in mainstream quantities anymore either. The Swedish classical music label BIS releases about 75 new titles each year, and many of those are actual DSD recordings. Still others such as Mobile Fidelity, Analogue Productions, Intervention Records, and Impex release limited edition reissues of famous jazz and rock classics, as do Sony Japan and Hong Kong, and Universal Music Japan and Hong Kong. Not dead like Betamax at all.

Yea, that’s right. The SACD market in Japan is quite substantial. Brands like Accuphase, Luxman, Marantz and Denon bring new (2 ch) players to the market quite often.

One note on DSD: You cannot mix in that format. DAWs are therefore PCM.

More than the format...you have to consider the artistic merit of what is being offered (?)( if in your taste?)....
the quality of the recording and mastering...
and perhaps then the question of the format arises (if the type/requirement of music justifies it)...
if the downstream audio chain, the quality of the room etc...
right? That's a lot of "ifs" ...
;-)
(The intellectual shortcut involving the HD evolution of the image is hardly relevant... ;-) )

(PS: Even though SACD is clearly not a guarantee of quality... it's regrettable that it didn't become the standard at the time in dual standard reader with CDs... the HD audio issue would have been resolved, no need more...
As a format, it was more than necessary for mainstream audio.
But then again, at the same time, the hype was for pirated music, which cost next to nothing... in MP3 format.)

Justified or not, these niches exist to make money in a world where it's considered normal to have 98% of the world's music available for a few dollars a month... to imagine that there's no impact is naive... just like the reason for SACD's existence now, 192k etc or the vinyl revival (which I fear is already starting to decline),( tape now etc? ;-) )
Marketing...
🥺

You'll see... you'll be able to, if it's estimated that there's money to be made... find AI-generated music (which is already flooding streaming providers, a more serious topic than HD audio formats)... in SACD format...
