Set Group As Default?

Hey folks. Recently set up a new system, using a WiiM Ultra streaming to the WiiM-enabled Audio Pro A10s in three different rooms via Bluetooth. All speakers are grouped. Very pleased with overall functionality so far, but one annoyance has cropped up -- our WiFi is a bit spotty, and every time it drops, the group is lost and I have to re-group. Is there any way to set the grouped status as a default?

Bluetooth? WiiM groups do not rely on Bluetooth at all.

And yes, persistent groups (probably to become released as "named groups") should take care of that.

Great news. I saw the thread about the Persistent Groups beta but I wasn't totally sure if that would solve this issue. Cheers all.

I read it as bluetooth was the source into the ultra and the wiim and a10s were in a (wifi) wiim group.
The Ultra is the source. I have my turntable plugged directly into the Ultra, as well as my streaming services connected there.

I have the audio output of the Ultra set to Bluetooth, which is then paired to 3 A10 speakers and also two bookshelf speakers (Kanto Ren).

OK, these are not audio pro A10 WiiM Edition devices then. :)

WiiM devices can be organised in WiiM groups, already. Streaming is performed via network (Wi-Fi and/or Ethernet). If you are using Bluetooth to send the output to various Bluetooth receivers, then WiiM named groups will probably not change a thing for you.

They definitely are the WiiM-enabled model, that's specifically why I bought them. I guess I misunderstood what is happening under the hood. I do see now that the speakers have the WiFi led indicator on. But I do have the audio output set to "Bluetooth," and I'm getting playback from the A10s as well as the Kanto Rens.

Thanks for clarification.

That probably means that the three A10 WiiM Edition are really forming a WiiM group (so persistent named groups will be helpful), but the Kanos are "just" connected via Bluetooth, not through a WiiM group.

WiiM/Linkplay groups are WiFi, not Bluetooth, at resolutions up to 24/48. That’s independent of input.

Cool, that makes sense to me.

The Kantos haven't been affected by the Wi-Fi dropping/groups issue, just the A10s, so hopefully Persistent Groups will do the trick. Thanks again.

Yeah if they're grouped they're connected via wifi (or ethernet). I too have had some issues with an A10 (vanilla version) at the margins of my wifi coverage dropping and having to be regrouped. I solved this by adding another access point (Google wifi). But yes, the persistent groups feature should solve this and other awkward playback issues. "Persistent groups should be coming soon" has been the status for quite some time now. Meanwhile we get updates to colors, backgrounds, and yet another EQ tweak... I'm in the group of folks who are a little disappointed in WiiM's lack of focus on what I would consider core functions like device grouping, que management, and playback options.

This is just my guess, but I don't think all members of the engineering team are working on one project. In this case, even if the wallpaper feature appeared first, it would most likely have nothing to do with the delay in the development of the persistent group.

Perhaps there was issues with the persistent group that was difficult to resolve and caused the release to be delayed. In fact, I saw major issues during beta testing.

When there is such a problem, simply increasing the number of people on the team is not always the solution.

Well, as usual I could be totally off the mark. 😂

Edit : I forgot to mention that I am part of a group that is eagerly awaiting the arrival of a persistent group.😄
