Should I buy a wiim ultra for sub out?

Hi, I have active speakers Q acoustic M20 HD and streamer Wiim Pro, everything is ok but I missed deeper bass. I have an unused passive DIY subwoofer kit at home. I decided to buy
DTA-100LF Desktop Subwoofer Amplifier with EQ which has an input sensitivity of 200 mV and use the sub out on Q acoustic M20 HD but I found out that the output voltage is only 380 mV depending on the volume of the speakers, the subwoofer is very quiet even with different settings. I want to ask if a Wiim Utra streamer with sub out and full setup management and better Vrms would solve this problem for me or buy a simple preamp like the Fosi Audio P4? Just for information, I did a blind test using a Pro-Ject CD Box DS3 CD player, used an RCA cable to the DTA-100 LF and the difference is clear. The CD player has a constant 2 Vrms if I'm not mistaken. Thank you for your answer and I wish you many musical experiences.

Hi

Have you tried connecting the DTA-100LF to the Pro's RCA-OUT and outputting sound from the passive subwoofer?

Since the Pro's Line-out Level can be adjusted from 200mV to 2V, it might be worth checking if you can raise it to an appropriate volume. The Ultra's sub-out voltage is 2V.

hi thanks for the reply, currently i am using rca outputs from wiim pro to rca line inputs of Q acoustic M20 hd i thought that to use subwoofer i only have to use dedicated sub out. How could i combine it when wiim pro has 1x line out for left and right channel?I assume that you can't use the optical output and RCA line output on the wiim pro at the same time. Sorry, maybe I'm wrong.

Wiim Ultra will offer

Speaker high pass
Subwoofer pre out
Room EQ
speakers/subwoofer alignment
As well as being a good streamer, although I would recoomend not using the wiim app for the streaming side just the initial device setup

Sorry, I suggested connecting the Pro to a sub amplifier to test the Sub's volume.

that's ok, I already tried a similar test from a CD player where there is still 2 Vrms at the output and the sub played well, so yes, the problem is in the voltage level I'm feeding the sub amplifier with 🙂

If the sub amp has a sensitivity of 200mV and your input signal is 380mV you should be able to achieve maximum output from the amp. Does the amp have a volume control?

Hi, I have active speakers so the amplifier is built in. As I read, the sub out level on the Q acoustic M20 hd is 380 mV but it depends on the volume. Most of the time I listen at 40 to 50% volume, so I assume that the sub out level is half that, which is not enough.

Does the DTA-100LF have a volume control?
