My Squeezeboxes have been going about 15 years.I bought it assuming a streamer's (practical) lifespan is about 3~4 years. For me, it falls into the same category as a smart phone![]()

That's superb. My Squeezeboxes have been going about 15 years.
It's probably because they rely on a server. I've had a few different servers over that time periodThat's superb.
Every WIN PC I've ever bought has become unusable within 5 years. So, I don't expect much![]()
The extension is for Three Years,Or four for anyone with counting skills![]()
Yeah, the CD player is fine because what you're playing with it has either not changed much or is backwards compatible. But if a music service like Spotify were to suddenly change their protocols to something not supported on a WiiM device, it would be like trying to play a DVD on your CD player. Why not? My Sony CD player has been in constant use since 1992. Never failed. There is if course not so much software in it, so maybe that's why?
Anyway good to see @WiiM Support is reading the forum and is following up on the documentation.

Doubt it, that’s their USPJust a random thought has WiiM ever considered going open source with their hardware firmware?
It could open up their hardware sales to an even larger audience. Personally, I see many more interesting integration possibilities with the WiiM Amp Ultra, especially with features like DSP. It would be a programmer’s dream.
Yep, dev does read these threads, and I'm around to share with them tooThought soo.. could the team then do this for us. I'm sure I'm not only one that will find this useful.
Could we get a home-assistant integration? I often miss my doorbell because I’m listening to music, and during get-togethers when the music is loud, it’s impossible to hear it. Would it be possible for engineers or developers to create a home-assistant integration for an alert for e.g. door bells and extras that home assistance offers.
Does development team read these thread or I have to send an email?
