This is a general question. I have a pair of old floor standing Boston Acoustics. The foam on the woofers were shot, so I bought a kit and refoamed them. Now, the midrange (5") appear intact, but they are much stiffer than the woofer foam. Are they supposed to be like this? Would I ruin the profile if I replaced the foam with something more pliable?
I would hope that there are many opinions on this
thanks

Yes, the compliance of the surround (amongst many other properties) will affect its performance.

Best not to touch the material at all if you can. Just one small change can have disastrous effects on the performance.

FWIW I used "The Wet Look" liquid from PE to renew these Sansui woofers from the 1970's. The bass really tightened up after I treated them.
