I have had tidal on my wiim ultra for a year, i love the quality. The search in tidal is rubbish compared to spotify, especially things like playlists. So I have just bought a dub to spotify and linked it to the wiim. If I search something like "1999" in playlists on the wimm it is only returning tidal results, none from spotify. Any suggestions please

You cannot search Spotify in the WiiM app only in Spotify
Spotify isn’t part of the WiiM home app like other services (it’s merely a link to the external Spotify app) so it can’t be included in universal searches like other services which are fully integrated within the WiiM app.

What do you mean by "link Spotify to WiiM"?
There are no integration of the Spotify user account in WiiM, as Spotify don't provide an API that allow this. This is the reason that the WiiM Home App cannot search Spotify.
So you only have the Spotify app that can control the WiiM playing using Spotify Connect.

Universal search would be great but in practice it doesn't work (that) good on all kinds of devices that have it, like tv's for instance.
