Spotify from the WiiM app

I have two issues with WiiM not supporting Spotify play from within the WiiM app, and an issue with Tune-In Premium support:

1) My family does not like going outside the WiiM app to the spotify app to play music. We replaced our 5 zone Sonos system with a WiiM Pro, a Wiim Pro Plus, a Wiim AMP and three Wiim Amp Ultras. We are 100% WiiM. But we liked the way the Sonos app allowed you to play the major music services from within the Sonos app. It's just more simple and easy. My family understands how to do this, but they find it to be annoying and I'm getting a lot of side-eye for upgrading our older Sonos system to WiiM instead of upgrading to the S2 Sonos Amp.

2) We use older apple devices on table stands in several rooms with the WiiM app to find/launch/control music. And those devices have iOS versions that can't be upgraded further to versions that Spotify supports. So we can't use those devices with WiiM to play from spotify.

We'd like Spotify to work like Tidal does from within the WiiM app instead of having to go outside the WiiM app. We'd also like to continue using older devices- one in particular we like is an Apple iPad Mini which works great with the bigger display to show what is playing and make it easy to control the app.

Another issue is that the WiiM app does not support Tune-In premium, it will only play the version with ads, which is irritating.

re. Spotify, I believe Sonus was a bit special in that regard. Pretty much every other streaming platform / app I've tried needs the use of spotify connect from spotify itself.
i.e. the family might not like it, but they may have to lump it!
Or move to tidal as it seems you use that too?

re. older devices, how old? My 9 year old android tablet still runs spotify, wiim home, tidal, bubble upnp etc etc that I use to control all my wiims, but maybe in a few years when it's as old as an ipad mini it won't.
That's technology for you, and 10-odd years out of a tablet is probably more than many would reasonably expect.
Two words for you:
Prime Day!
Or maybe Second Hand?

Good luck with the retraining!

Well, the devices are 8-10 yrs old, but they run the WiiM app, and Sonos just fine. It's just Spotify that's a problem. Thanks for your perspective, although I hope your lack of concern isn't taken by WiiM as a reason to not integrate Spotify.

I think it's more likely that spotify won't allow such integration, not that wiim won't / couldn't do it.
Lack of concern, or resignation? ;)

Perhaps the next firmware update for Amp Ultra will increase the number of presets to 32. I think this feature will be added to other WiiM devices in due course.

If your family mainly listens to playlists, you can pre-populate Spotify in the presets and play it from the remote or the WiiM app. This is not a solution, but it may be a compromise.
