Spotify Spotify Lossless is here, it's official!

If you like listening on the go with wired headphones and a good DAC, it could be relevant 😉
Yup, just for that I hope they will consider adding it (direct play to USB dacs) in the future. Tidal used to support it until about 2 years ago and for some reason removed it.

At least in Germany, there was a disproportionately high price adjustment shortly before the introduction of lossless. This means that everyone is paying for the few who care about lossless... Another typical Spotify move 😅
Same happened in Australia with premium price increases announced a week or two ago.

And what is the verdict?

I haven't compared it with normal sound quality, but if I blind-tested it I might not notice any difference. But I do feel that the outline of each sound is sharper than before.

For me, the most exciting thing is that all the complaints I had with Alexa Cast have been eliminated - Spotify Connect can use playback queues, and the operation is as comfortable as ever, even with the increased volume of sound files. 😄

There appear to be a few bugs, but I'm sure they will be solve soon.

Bugs found so far.
1) Tapping a device on the device connection screen in the Spotify app sometimes fails to show the sample rate.

2) This morning, when I connected to the WiiM, there was no sound. When I connected again, the sound came on.

Once connected successfully, Spotify connect is very stable for long periods of playback and of course the music never breaks up.

Can you expand on the "blind testing" setup? Were you testing Normal vs Lossless quality using Spotify, or Qobuz/Tidal vs Spotify Lossless? Because not noticing differences without evidence/knowledge with Qobuz/Tidal is a positive statement, while if is versus Normal quality is a negative statement.

He hasn't done blind testing.

Yes, I didn't.

Just my opinion. Spotify has introduced lossless playback, too late. After years of empty promises, I got rid of it and switched to Qobuz and Tidal, and I don't intend to go back.
Why? Simple. I don't see why I should pay more to those who offer less. Their maximum quality is 24/44.

I can't hear the difference with 24/192? Maybe, but others offer it at a lower price.

Conclusion? They can keep their lossless. They missed the boat, and I'm happy even without Spotify.

have our spotify account till i bought my first sonos gear long ago. no qobuz or tidal in sight then. never cancelled it and it does not make us more wealthy when doing so. very questionable attitude from me. agreed. but still nice as sleep aid with a roam and an audiobook while on the road or on holiday 😉. audible is to much amazon. no lossless need for me. but i know there are a few million others.

They missed the boat
these audiophiles that are concerned with some compression and therefor switches service barely even register on spotify`s subscriber list. if they had any worries about loosing money they would probably have done it a long time ago.
