I'm told it's actually a pcm wrapper of that resolution so it's not 100% I'm getting losslessIf you've selected the volume leveling option in Lyrion's Spotty plugin, it transcodes the Ogg from Spotify to FLAC or PCM. Most likely what you're seeing?

I take it Spotify will stream lossless up to that resolution, not that all tracks will be that full resolution. I guess like the other streaming services, the vast majority will be 16/44.1Well, I got the notice today! Lossless.. 24/44. Playing on the Wiim Pro I see that it is 'reduced' to 16/44. But it sounds much better, especially in the dynamics.
Everybody seems to care about about losing in the freq spectrum with Mp3/0gg.. however alle information is reduced with compression. That is what stands out with higher res streaming, much better profiled dynamics and more detail and foremost a more balanced soundstage.
Obviously 24/44 is still compressed from the source but so much better then what we had on Spotify. Newer popmusic (in general) has been suffering from loudness wars (upward compression) ruining the dynamics it could have. This will not change much I fear as the masters remain the same.
Anyway attached the Wiim specs while streaming. Hopefully they upgrade to the full..![]()
Oh dear, isn't that a bit naive?
Hi, does the Wiim app show it’s receiving lossless, or is it as it’s been for a while and you don’t see the bit depth and sample rate there for Spotify Connect?Apparently, the Spotify app requires lossless settings for each WiiM device.
For the moment, I have changed all five WiiM devices to lossless.
To be honest, I'm not sure of the procedure, but if you don't see the 'Lossless' tag on the WiiM device in the Spotify Connect screen, try the following.
1) Ensure that you are getting lossless playback on the phone's speaker.
2) Open the device list and connect to the WiiM while it is playing on the phone's speaker.
3) Open the 'Media sound and Video quality' section of the settings screen, the audio quality setting for the WiiM device is active, as shown here. Select lossless.

Just signed up again to Spotify here in the UK and can't see anything showing hires options or playback. So a bit confused, is it live or not?
Please read the press release in the opening post where it says “Lossless is rolling out gradually to more than 50 markets through October. Premium subscribers in Australia, Austria, Czechia, Denmark, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Portugal, Sweden, the US, and the UK have already started to get access.”. Hopefully you’ll get it before your trial runs outI rushed in![]()
...I understand that. I wouldn't want to discuss it either. Have fun!Maybe so, but that's my opinion. I think of the platform as a record label. If there is a contractual issue, it's between the two parties.
I don't want to continue the discussion here. Sorry I just get a bit annoyed that every time there is a Spotify thread, someone always comes up with the same complaint![]()
I mean I full-on rushed in with the £20 month family subscriptionHopefully you’ll get it before your trial runs out![]()
Lucky us in ItalyPlease read the press release in the opening post where it says “Lossless is rolling out gradually to more than 50 markets through October. What do you mean? The above quote says it’s already started rolling out now to the named regions and that it will be rolled out to more than 50 regions on October, so perhaps Italy is in that 50Huh?
Wasn't it expected to be deployed in October?![]()
It's already available in my country, but I haven't received any notifications.I can imagine people are going to be manically restarting their app, checking for an update, and checking their email to see if they have been enabled. For those that already have it did they notify you or did you just notice when checking the playback quality settings? I had the pop on launching the app saying it is coming and that they will notify you so I am curious how they will notify us?
