Spotify Spotify Lossless is here, it's official!

ok, why? its not possible for tidal to have better sound when both are uncompressed, and from what i see and hear spotify as a service is better.
Tidal cost less, pay more the artists, gives better suggestions, much more clean app and hasn't bullying behaviors versus minor editors...

Tidal lacks any integration with Google Assistant or Siri.
It also sucks at (doesn't seem to support) picking up when music is already streaming on a different device through Tidal Connect, which is pretty annoying.

Ethics aside, the overall user experience feels and looks very 2015.

Not to mention: Tidal/Qobuz offers integration with third-party apps (UAPP, Bubble, etc.), which is advantageous e.g. in the case of UAPP if you want to bypass operating system restrictions.
As for the user interface, I'll refrain from commenting... let's just say I'm not a fan of Ken & Barbie :-)

Spotify Connect is something they've done really well, though, and it prevented me from switching to Tidal years ago. Thanks to the above, however, it was no problem using Bubble UPnP..., and now Connect is also available which works fine for me.

It's definitely good for all Spotify users that they've finally introduced Lossless. I just hope that this doesn't lead to good music services like Tidal and Qobuz having to file for bankruptcy soon...

In the end of the day it's up to the user to decide whether they can reconcile with their conscience that they are indirectly investing in the war machine, responsible for the poor pay of artists and their repression, supporting market abuse, enjoying fake playlists and inauthentic artists....etc. etc.

I guess there wasn't really much reason to do so for Spotify until now. Back when I was using Volumio, it a Spotify integration in it's web GUI so it is definitely possible.

Another factor is probably that Spotify connect works very well already, as you said :)

I'll still pay for both Spotify and Qobuz. I've just had a little play with Spotify since lossless appeared today and it's not for me. The only thing I personally use it for is to export suggested playlists from listenbrainz, then transfer straight to Qobuz.

However my kids and partner will still only use Spotify. If anything, I think I won't feel as cheated paying for something that's not as good as a cd even if I don't use it myself.

While we're on that subject, none of the other 3 accounts that are linked to my family premium account have lossless (yet). Does anyone know if they ever will or is it one of those things only the account holders gets?

Not that any of them are bothered.

No question Spotify user interface is the best out there if this matters to you. But for those that are hardcore audiophile where quality of music matter most they would pick tidal since it offer 24/192. Many of these high resolution are not native when they were recorded and mostly upsampling.

This was I thought at a glance when switched from spot to Tidal but in reality is just a more clean and essential interface (no bells and whistles) and after a while I started to like it's suggestions, far more interesting than the usual mainstream from Spotify.
In terms of connectivity, Spotify is more versatile, but Tidal Connect comes at second place. When used with a dedicated streamer, it works very well, allowing all devices on the local network to simultaneously monitor and control playback.

If you like listening on the go with wired headphones and a good DAC, it could be relevant 😉

It wont costs more as they always said..for instance 5 Euro more then the premium price.
Great news 😮😮👍.
From a Dutch site..
