Since today I seem to have access to Spotify Lossless and I’m excited to try it out. However, I want to make sure it really is what it claims to be. As you can see in the screenshot, the WiiM app doesn’t display any bitstream information. Is there another reliable way to verify the actual audio quality (sample rate/bit depth) that’s being streamed?

EDIT: After carefully listening to a few songs, I must say the highs in particular sound so much better. I hope it becomes available for you too, either right now or very soon.

EDIT 2: It's official -> https://newsroom.spotify.com/2025-0...-a-richer-more-detailed-listening-experience/

I'd be surprised if WiiM devices supported it without some change in the API - unless they've already done that and there's an embargo on them saying they support it until an official Spotify release announcement. Guess you might be able to tell if your WiiM is connected to a device that shows the bitrate...

And it's official! YES!

“Lossless is available on mobile, desktop, and tablet, as well as on many devices that support Spotify Connect, including Sony, Bose, Samsung, Sennheiser, and more. Support for additional devices, including those from Sonos and Amazon, arrives next month.”

@WiiM Support , @WiiM Team , @RyanWithWiiM - are WiiM included among the “many devices” that will support this?

(Not seeing it yet on my iPad app in the uk)

I can't imagine WiiM not supporting this, but I do like to hear from the team about this. Please confirm.

I’m pretty sure they will but they may need to update their firmware to do so if they haven’t already done that behind the scenes.

But is 24/44.1 max only, seems. Good it's included in actual plans, but still not Audiophile grade.

That’s really not a surprise as that’s all they’ve been talking about since it was first mentioned. Plus it should be noted that around 90% of what you might call “audiophile grade” mainstream streaming services like Qobuz, Tidal etc are of similar CD resolution, not forgetting that a well mastered CD album will out-perform a poorly mastered 24/192 one.

Agreed, and I'll seriously consider to drop my Qobuz in February when it ends if I'm pleased by the Spotify quality, as I own a Family plan that cannot dismiss anyhow. While CD quality is a material advantage, true that going over 24/44.1 impacts only great gear, great ears and required great master quality... but hey, some 24/192 albums on Qobuz shines even on my average setup, and I can easily discriminate vs a CD. Worth the premium price just for the few of them? Probably not, agreed. Let see if Spotify does the basics right, at least ;)

For me at least, it's enough.
More important is the fact that (so far) no additional costs are required 😄
Exactly! With 2 sons that cannot live with anything "not Spotify" for their streaming, if quality is good I will drop my Qobuz and live happily.
